Gen Raheel 'seriously concerned' over violation of sovereignty by US

Our concern are more our land not use be it Taliban neither USA, if USA is worry about Taliban or terrorists activities and targeting them with drones why not uncle give us a stock of drones and technology so we can use it by ourselves?

The U.S isn't as desperate to have peace in Afghanistan as we are. Remember how the death of Mullah Umar was leaked just before another round of negotiations? The U.S wants to keep Pakistan busy with Afghanistan long after they've gone, It's everyone nation for itself in Afghanistan.

I recall the comment of retired Gen Tariq Khan. who said that although Pak army will not like someone else doing their job but given the nature of the war and resources and technology required... American drones are necessary in this kind of war.

what remains a mystery is why or how

Passport survives while the corpses are burnt to crisp without recognition?
target is allowed to visit Iran what was he doing there?
how the people get there in time to make footage of the "attack" when that place is 400 miles away from major settlement in the remotest areas of Pakistan. car still burning? (this car footage seems to me like the black bearded Osama speech footage Fox News aired which was ridiculed by everyone).

that aside

it seems like there is reasonable assumption that the intended target is taken out. his passport is faked but apparently the Saudi and iranian visa stamps are genuine. (that doesnt mean much because he was participating in negotiations with Americans in UAE and elsewhere and for the sake of talks he kept Mullah Omar's death a secret .. until Northern alliance thought .. that it will be good idea to spill the beans and disrupt any chance of peace)

Taliban elected a new leader .I dont think they are going to degrade that easily .
But Afghan civilians will suffer .Taliban will take the revenge on them.

On topic :After those attack Americans publicly claimed that they will do that again .They are a Superpower and their arrogance is that much .So what can Pakistan or leaders to do against them ?
Pak Army still needs US support to counter all these menace.

I am wondering these same mighty US cant do anything against Russia even if that Edward Snowden is in there .

What foreign minister? What about it??
The current government doesn't even have a foreign minister for your information.

That is how strong we are at diplomacy!!We talk about army and blame them, have a look at how GREAT the government have been when it comes for foreign affairs.

Pathetic!
Why should the govt appoint a civilian foreign minister when the foreign affairs are handled by the office of chief of army staff?

I sincerely feel sorry for Gen kiyani now... I think he was unnecessarily criticised, otheriwse even our "hero" Gen raheel sharif have given exactly same and weakresponse.. If Gen Raheel had to give such a weak statement, it was better he stayed quiet..or if he had to speak..he must have spoken eatlier or give a substantial statement.. Even Ch nisar's press conference was better... I think after three days, general has spoken only because he was being criticised for staying silent..so bahalat e majboori he called US ambassador and gave this statement....

Gen kiyani's bad luck was tht his tenure coincided with the worst era of Pak US relation... Seeing Gen Raheel's response this time, even if he was in 2011, his response wouldnt have been any different than Gen Kiyani...for which Gen kiyani was soo harshly criticised.. I think we owe Gen kiyani an apology
Very aptly put! This why I believe the army chief of staff has a shelf life of 3 years only. And must not seek any further extentions. Gen. Kiyani did muck up on that, though where he decided to stay Chief for 6 years. Gen. Raheel should take heed and exit out before he becomes a useless mouth piece, too.

makes sense, sometimes you have to dance with the devil.

valid questions, but then there still remain a ton of valid questions about operation Neptune Spear. I doubt the full truth will ever come out for Mansour, he and the taliban are nowhere near as high profile in 2016 as Osama still was till he was taken out.

more glaring inconsistencies, and whatever happened to that 'Wali Muhammad' guy ?

what an insane game of poker, the US, the Pak military establishment, the Afghan Taliban, all keeping their cards close to their chest, and no one's got a clue to the truth.

US presence was and is never a reason to control a barren piece of land with a civil war spanning decades...They have long term objectives and one of them is to destablise Pakistan and cause the turmoil and fragility to the point where they can negotiate a deal on Pakistan's nuclear program. That is why any solution that leads to the stability in this region, will be sabotaged by USA under any circumstances. If USA leaves Pakistan alone, Pakistan has the resilience and potential to grow both economically and militarily...a scenario that does not fit their new world order.

just throwing out all plausable reasons for the sake of debate

now hear this out too

why Govt/ Military kept quiet for few days although the drone strike had happened some time ago?
the guy was suborn and disagreeable in the on going negotiations (confirmed by Americans)
it was NOT the Iranians that sold him out but the ISI that passed a "helpful" lead .. which helped in tracking him and taking him out...

but why?

in the background Haqqani's are being considered as an alternative replacement to negotiate with Americans (will sound blasphemous going by the public narrative).
reasons are

Haqqanis remain the most potent viable force that holds the stake in Afghanistan's future and after the demise of Mullah Omar they command the support of the marginalised Pashton Majority of Afghanistan. hate them as much we want but we cant expect peace by ignoring them and trying to negotiate with an unknown local weak commander who might get upstaged by rival local commander.
Also... Americans hold one of the Haqqani's siblings under their captivity which helps Pakistan to convince them to come to their senses and try out peace negotiation.
But this will all have to wait

for coming weeks .. we can expect some carnage , turmoil and devastation in Afghanistan as a response to this assassination. prospect rival commanders will try to assert themselves by launching attacks on Kabul regime and foreign forces, the ISIS will definitely take advantage of this and will try to carve in more influence at the expense of Afghan taliban.
the racist bigots that make up the Kabul regime who hate the Afghan pashton population with a passion will persecute the Pashtons even further and this will continue till this fall .. killing an Afghan commander has never helped .

its the lesson of time for centuries.

pray (if you care) for the safety and peace of Afghanistan and I pray for Both Afghanistan and Pakistan for the possible fall out.

wow, now that has to be the mother of all unenviable positions if there ever was one.

part karmic backlash for historical strategic errors of judgement, a lot of neocon hubris in their terribly ill-conceived WoT, and shit ton of the both of you struggling to deal with your Frankenstein monster of, lets face it, religiously motivated terror, of which ISIS is just the newest mutated strain.

these guys haven't spared anyone since the commies retreated, not spared their own, not spared those across the border, didn't spare those on the other side of the planet.

good luck, and yes, lets hope the backlash on the civilians of the region isn't too bloody.

. . .
What any other nation's army with a tiny bit of respect would do.
and just how do you imagine those self respecting militaries would have responded ?

I imagine a Russia or China etc would have immediately shot down the drone but not everyone is Russia or China etc

I don't mean to troll, but this seems like an obvious move by the US to reassert itself as the senior and dominant partner in this special and very complicated relationship, they just smashed a major 'bargaining chip' of the Pak military and intel establishment.

.
Although I don't care about other countries that much but for record
Yemen and Somalia are other countries apart from Pakistan and Afghanistan
in Syria they used FSA which morphed into a new monster.

you people make it sound like America has all the money and spare drones and hellfires to just blow things up. this is expensive stuff and they chose their targets carefully. if some hired gun can do the similar job then they don't bother with Drones .. so you and I never come to know about them.

You're telling us that these are expensive tools and US choose their targets very carefully right ?
Last time I heard that 95% of the drone strikes killed innocent people. The percentage of killing so called terrorists are hardly 100. This is evident that how much Americans are use these EXPENSIVE Tools carefully.

Actions speak louder than words

General has power to take them down which he is not

We have a total incompetent govt. Don't you think that by not appointing a foreign minister for the past three years NS deliberately undermining Pakistan's ties with the world? This is not simply an act out of incomptency but a treason. IDK why he is being allowed to continue govt since all his actions are anti-Pakistan...I normally do not like to use the word traitor against people with different ideology than mine but there is more than clear evidence that he and his team are planted and deliberately working against the national interest of Pakistan and he is security risk for us. If we don't open our eyes now....then just wait until the loans and borrowing climbs to USD 90 billion mark....It is not far....and if details of 46 billion CPEC are made public....it may have already been reached.
Sir, please tell me one reason why Nawaz should appoint a foreign minister? What good will he or she serve when the foreign affairs are being handled by the army.

You want a puppet minister who can be lashed out at each time there's a drone attack? No sane person would want thay job knowing fully they won't have any power in the foreign affairs. But we'll sure fry him each time there's a foreign affairs debacle.

US had started restructuring ME years ago, Pakistan and Afghanistan are part of Greater ME dominated by Israel and its friends. Pakistan is left, not collapsed with insurgencies and terrorism so they will use other tactics and measures to get job done. There new watch dog India want its enemies bow downed and there new masters are doing it.
