Thats a nice setup, I wish I could afford to build something that nice but atm I plan on upgrading to an i5-7600k and an rx-480, which should be enough to run things decently at 1080 resolution

Rx 480 is for 4k
If you just want 1080
Go for gtx 1050 ti or 1060
Or 1070 for 1440p or 2k
Problem with amd yes they are cheap but performance isnt same as Nvidia
Heating and voltage issues

The system cost me about $7000 AUD, but I only pay $3,000 as I use this for my small business, the government subsidise 50% of the system via tax rebate and I got $1,000 off for Small Business Grant

Why not go for Xeon Processor? For system that fast, Xeon Processor will give you about 20% more efficiency than traditional i7 Processor. Other than OCing your system. Clockwise it wasn't that big a drop in performance between xeon and i7?

I want a system that's future proof too, and because of the Rx 480's architecture it runs much better with DX12 when compared to the 1060. Rx-480's are also practically being given away at around £160, whereas the 1060 is around the £200 price point so in my head its a no-brainer to go for the better value card. Besides that, I persoinally feel that Nvidia is a shady company so I generally try and avoid them anyway.

Also, im probably gonna switch out the 7600k for a regular 7600, and use the money saved to grab some decent case fans instead.

The aim of the game for me is to build a system that can last as long as possible, and as cheaply as possible and I think this kind of setup is probably the best way to achieve that.

Works very well for casual games, but modern games like the Witcher 3 will only output around 25 fps on the lowest video settings. I also want to play the new Mass effect at atleast 60fps so the GPU needs to be switched out immediately.

I was on the fence about upgrading the cpu, but since the 3450 uses the outdated LGA1155 socket I cant really upgrade my motherboard without changing the CPU first.
