I wish this post was written by someone who'd understand what I am typing now. nevertheless, I will give it a try. India and Bhutan has a defence treaty. Bhutan is a protectorate state of India. That allows/ enables India to interfere on behalf of Bhutan whenever there is a dispute raised by Bhutan. Any dispute raised by Bhutan and the situation warranting the safety of Bhutan and its assets, qualifies for India's interference. Same happened in Doklam...Bhutanese army confronted the Chinese first and the situation scaled into a level threatening Bhutan's land assets... and then India comes into picture because of the treaty. That's how protectorates are protected. Bhutan does not need to cry for help on Facebook to let the world know that it called for help.

The whole Doklam is disputed, and the most strategic portion happened to be the plateau, aka Doklam Plateau. India sent in those excavators to destroy the roads on that plateau and to stop us from progressing further down south. We sent in our troops in return and it became a stand off. When China threatened war, Mr. Doval tried to negotiate with China to have mutual withdrawal. China insisted India withdraw first before we consider those options presented by Doval.

India retreated as instructed and we postpone the road extension, according to MEA, they had to verify we postpone the construction, why? Because they didn't know if we would follow their proposal since nothing was agreed upon and it was only based on the fact that India had to withdraw. I still remember all Indians being so jaiho about China retreating with India. So now we know the facts. We now control a 16kmsq territory facing Siliguri, the highest elevated piece of land to house hundreds of howitzers and missiles.

How big is your spot? 5 meters? 10 meters? 20 meters away is a forward base. We as a win win solution for India and China, postponed the roads and in return we occupied and militarized the whole plateau. My question back to you, what are you gonna do now as we militarize Doklam Plateau, the very prized strategic plateau? Where is your bravado in defending Bhutan? Your goal post seems to be getting smaller and smaller, from nothing on Doklam, to nothing near the spot, to nothing ON THE SPOT.

As Brahma Chellaney said: India won a battle postponing a road, but lost the war when China occupied the Plateau. Do you know Chinese strategy?
