BARA: The law-enforcement agencies during a search operation here Thursday arrested a French national of Moroccan origin, Mohammad Sufiyan, son of Mohammad Ibrahim, from Mali Talab village of Bara subdivision in Khyber Agency, official sources told The News.

The sources said they recovered a French passport from the detained foreigner and shifted him to a secret location for interrogation. Pleading anonymity, a security official said the foreign national was held in Mali Talab village near Akakhel in Bara subdivision. He said they could not understand the language of the French national.

“We are conducting our investigation on different aspects. First we would like to know if he was kidnapped for ransom or involved in drug- trafficking. The third aspect of our investigation is to probe whether he has any links with terrorists,” explained the official.

Meanwhile, the security forces during the search operation demolished houses of three wanted militant commanders at Spin Qabar Chowk in Bara. The officials said that houses of Hazrat Mohammad, who was killed earlier during clashes with the security forces, Nek Mohammad and Azim Afridi, were demolished.

Those are arab morocans..The french morocan are big fan boys of Al Quaida, taliban, jehad and Saudi royal family. They have been the so called islamic menance in France too.. Part of their sentiments developed from anti-french feelings by years of force colonism. He was arrested by security forces. He possesses two passports one is Egyptian and the other is French Passport.

The French are trying hard to make it a case of kidnapping of its national by militants.

It'd easy to jump to conclusions, but Moroccans are big on hashish so there could be a strong drug trafficking link here.

Although Arabs have been caught in these areas before, Moroccans haven't as far as I'm aware.

People from the Maghreb (Tunisia, Morrocco, Algeria etc), are rarely linked to Pakistan. It's more Gulf Arabs that are often killed or caught in these areas.

If proven to be a terrorism link, then we really are branching out in attracting scum from far afield as Morocco.

Yes, but Al-Qaeda in the Land of the Islamic Maghreb is a distinctly seperate entity, concentrated in that part of the world.

Up until now, we haven't been able to establish their presence within our borders, so if this individual proves to be associated with them, then it's a significant development.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what transpires with this guy.
