Authorities plan to exhume the body of a four-year-old boy, who is said to have been abducted and killed by djinns in a small town of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The body would be exhumed for an autopsy as the relatives had buried the boy without following legal procedures for murder cases, district administration officials said.


Ahmad went missing nearly two weeks ago from the Somal village of Chilas, a town in Diamer Valley of G-B and his mutilated body was found dumped in a nearby forest. The family neither registered a police case not took the body for a post-mortem after a Rawalpindi-based exorcist, Qari Mazoorul Haq, told them the boy was killed by “supernatural forces”.

Speaking to The Express Tribune Diamer Deputy Commissioner Usman Ahmad said he had told the police to seek permission from a court to exhume the boy’s body. “The cause of death can’t be determined without an autopsy,” he added.

Non-Muslim djinns?

As police gear up to solve the case, a number of theories about the child’s gruesome killing are circulating among the locals.

They now believe the boy was murdered by a non-Muslim paranormal entity as usually the Muslim djinns release their hostages without harming them.


Janbaz Khan, a sitting minister in the G-B government, also seconds the theory. “Usually Muslim djinns release the person after sometime without harming them,” he said. “But non-Muslim djinns react and kill the captive if an exorcist’s help is sought.”

“The same has happened in this case too,” said Khan, who is the food minister and hails from the same district.

Stories associated with supernatural beings are rife in the valley, which is one of the most backward areas in the region and has the lowest literacy rate.

Khan claims he has witnessed several cases in which djinns kidnap people in the valley. “Tell me who would harbour an enmity with a four-year-old kid?” he reasons.

DIG Inayatullah Farooqi has assigned the investigation to a police superintendent instead of relying on a station police officer.

In a bizarre case straight out of the Hollywood supernatural horror film Insidious, a pre-schooler was allegedly abducted and murdered by ‘djinns’ in a backward area of Gilgit-Baltistan. The local police have registered a case and investigations are under way.

Four-year-old Ahmad had gone missing nearly two weeks ago from Somal village of Chilas, a town in Diamer Valley of G-B. And his mutilated body pockmarked with wounds was found dumped in a nearby forest.

Ahmad was reportedly possessed by a female genie who was enamoured with him. Ahmad’s mother left her house to fetch water from a nearby spring – and Ahmad also trudged along. However, he mysteriously went missing from the spring. Ahmad’s mother looked for him, but in vain. She returned home and narrated the story to the family.

The family combed the entire village in search of Ahmad but found no trace. The family then decided to seek help from Aamils (exorcists) instead of the police. They approached a Rawalpindi-based exorcist, Qari Mazoorul Haq, who travelled all the way to Chilas to resolve the mystery. “After speaking to Ahmad’s mother and local clerics, the exorcist confirmed that the pre-schooler has been seized by some malevolent entity,” a relative told The Express Tribune. “Only Aamils could exorcise the djinn out of the boy and save him – and we tried that,” he added.

Qari Haq started his exorcism rituals with the help of three local residents which continued for nearly a week. “During the ritual, the boy briefly reappeared twice,” an investigator Mujeebur Rahman told journalists in Chilas on Saturday.

“Ahmad’s parents told us that the djinns briefly produced him twice and then disappeared,” he added. “However, the exorcist’s ritual enraged the djinns who subsequently killed Ahmad in retaliation and threw his body in the jungle.”

Ahmad was laid to rest on Friday. The local cleric asked the mourners at the funeral to recite more and more verses from the Holy Quran to save themselves from the mischief of paranormal forces. In his Friday sermon too, the cleric urged the worshippers to seek God’s forgiveness against the wrath of djinns.

Initially, the local police was reluctant to register an FIR but relented after local police chief Capt (retd) Zafar Iqbal Awan directed them to lodge a case. “We will solve the mystery,” Awan told reporters on Sunday. “Ahmad’s relatives still believe it was the handiwork of supernatural forces but we will investigate all possible angles to bring the culprits to justice.”

That guy is from my state in India and I have to shamefully admit that most people from my place are very ignorant about everything else that happens outside of our state (mostly have to do with their fervent opposition to learning other languages, which proved to be a handicap later on). Not just in my book. That is the universally agreed definition. Yes, Hindutvawadis are those who belong to the Sangh Parivar or support the Sangh Parivar.

Now before you divert the argument, with the proof that I gave you, admit that Hindtuvawadis are against animal sacrifices and it is the Tamils and other backward type tribal people who want it. I have proved it to you, haven't I (like I have done to every other lie you peddle on these forums)?

Sacrificing animals happen in temples which are in regions where pagan rituals once existed. These rituals existed side-by-side with Hinduism (just as in TN, where Hindu Gods such as Murugan, Thirumal were worshiped along side pagan Goddess Kotravai). Buffaloe sacrifice happens in Nepal, where Kotravai is worshiped as Kali.

skulls of lesser races were smashed on the doorsteps for good luck which were over time replaced with coconut.

re this news. not sure about authenticity of this news but such rituals make the skin crawl you hear about them all across the globe.

the importance here is ...how the authorities apprehend the culprits.
