London, Jan. 10 (ANI): Four out of five people from all ethnic backgrounds in Britainbelieve that media coverage of minorities promotes racism, according to a recent poll.
A poll for the Runnymede Trust prompted calls for media regulators to be more vigilant in addressing coverage of combustible subjects, such as immigration and race, the Independent reports.
People of Pakistani descent contributed 94 percent to the poll, blamed media coverage of minorities for fuelling racism.
Even 76 percent of the white respondents were deeply concerned about the impact of media coverage of ethnic minorities.
68 percent Black Caribbeans and Indians were of a similar thought and Black Africans counted to 67 percent.
Among Eastern Europeans responding to the poll, 89 percent thought media reporting was contributing to racism. (ANI)
