Former DG ISI My comments have been twisted

And thinking some Pakistanis want Mushy back...hah! Morons..
And then they put Nawaz Sharif against Zardari, and treat them as equals!

Looks like the people of Pakistan have developed a habit of getting their blood sucked by their leaders.

.
Under Gen Musharraf's presidency, Gen Ziauddin and his family had literally been turned into outcasts and all their belongings were taken away from them so naturally Gen Ziauddin holds a grudge against Gen Musharraf
In all those years he was a social outcast in the military circles so I doubt that he had access to any concrete information during this time.
Gen Musharraf also exceeded limits in grinding a fellow officer and colleague to the limit but certainly personal vendettas should not put national security at risk.
Gen Ziauddin was and still is with Nawaz group and his claims have more to do with getting back at Gen Musharraf (and perhaps Gen Kiani ) in one way or the other rather than him having access to some real information.

I wouldn't buy what he has to say on matters that transpired over the last 10 years.

.
he was not army chief even 3 hours so what we can expect from him ?

. . .
So basically the ISI both 'hid OBL' and helped track him down and helped in the US raid. ...

Rather contradictory statements, don't you think?

Could be different factions within ISI and Pakistani Army.. Guess an ex Army chief would know this better than most of the people on this forum..:)

well thats american thinktanks for you that way they are guaranteed to be right and wrong lol

Its not American think Tanks.. Its an ex Chief of Army and ISI head who is saying this... The proverbial Horse's mouth really :D

.
They have helped OBL in Afghan war, after 9/11 they shifted OBL to pakistani military garrison but as US comes to know about it and put pressure they have to obey USA..........its simple.

so you are implying that US just acted out a pre-arranged deal and all the stories about SEAL team 6 and helis and support was just a drama an in fact there was collusion between Pakistani and US to finally bump off OBL ??
Your American patrons will not be happy with this bit of detail that Operation Geronimo was just topi drama everything was pre-arranged
So then what position you bhartis will take ?

- I have replied that's a possibility as AM was arguing its a contradiction.

Gen Ziauddin was never officially sworn in as COAS , he was 'named' Army Chief on the fateful day that Nawaz diverted Gen Musharraf's plane but Gen Ziauddin was never officially sworn in as the COAS so calling him 'ex-COAS' would be incorrect

Washington: Pakistani military had harboured Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden with the knowledge of former president General Pervez Musharraf, ex-army chief General Ziauddin Butt has said.

An article on the Jamestown Foundation website, which cited Butt, said that despite denials, evidence is emerging that "elements within the Pakistani military harboured Osama with the knowledge of Musharraf and Kayani". Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is the current army chief.

Ziauddin Butt, a former chief of the Pakistan army, told a conference on Pakistani-US ties in October that according to his knowledge, then director general of Intelligence Bureau, Brigadier (retd.) Ijaz Shah, had "kept Osama bin Laden in an Intelligence Bureau safe house in Abbottabad".

Osama bin Laden was gunned down May 2 by US commandos who mounted a daring operation using stealth helicopters.

The retired general said in the same address that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had helped the CIA to track Osama down and kill him.

The report also said that stunning revelation was unreported for some time as some intelligence officers had asked journalists not to publish Butt's remarks.

The report said that Butt told the daily Dawn on December 11 that he fully believed that "(Brigadier) Ijaz Shah had kept this man (bin Laden in the Abbottabad compound) with the full knowledge of General Pervez Musharraf..." Butt added, "Ijaz Shah was an all-powerful official in the government of General Musharraf."

To a query on whether the present army chief knew about it, Butt said yes, but later added: "(General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani) may have known - I do not know - he might not have known."

The former Pakistan army chief has, however, not been able to explain as to how Osama was not found even after Brigadier Shah and Musharraf went out of power.

Butt had been the ISI chief under then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Sharif had promoted him as the army chief after forcibly retiring General Pervez Musharraf Oct 12, 1999, but the army's top brass then revolted.

Musharraf, who toppled Sharif and became the new chief executive of the country, stepped down in 2008.

Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistani top military officials had major differences, including on Pakistan's ties with Osama bin Laden.

According to Butt, Sharif had made up his mind to cooperate with the US and track down Osama in 1999.

Citing a senior advisor to the prime minister, the report said, "the general staff ousted Sharif to scuttle the 'get-Osama' plan".

Butt said that Nawaz Sharif had set up a special task force of 90 US-trained commandos to track down Osama in Afghanistan.

"If the Sharif government had continued on this course, this force would likely have caught bin Laden by December 2001, but the plan was aborted by Ziauddin Butt's successor as ISI general director, Lieutenant General Mahmud Ahmed," the report added.

This article is the worst kind of propaganda I have seen in a long time.

First of all who is this EX ARMY CHIEF named General Ziauddin Butt.

Was'nt he the guy, Nawaz Sharif was trying to appoint for the Chief Position.

The guy never got a chance to take over this Position because Nawaz was removed by the Coup.

You cannot seriously take the word of this Clown as being an objective Statement, as he has an axe to grind.

ISI Chief does not mean he was Army Chief.

He was appointed by Nawaz as Army Chief but never took over his office because Army revolted against his appointment.

The problem is you don't have any information and you are relying on Wikipedia for Information.

Whereas we Pakistanis were on the ground and know exactly what happened on the ground.

.
And how does he know this exactly? I thought the self-made logicians (i.e. the bharatis) didn't take insider information as proof, because according to them, anyone can claim to have this information. Remember that this guy isn't working for Pakistan military anymore, so his word by itself doesn't count.

The other thing is... this was said, according to the article, in October. And only the bharatis are taking attention of this.
Yet again a fail for bharatis.
In their small world, the whole world knows this, but in fact no one besides them has even read this.

indians are caught red handed again pushing US propaganda. Looks like US propaganda kuli job being outsourced for indians.
