Should. But they don't.

Same in the case of flight. There are not one, but many aviators. Even long before Talpade flew or flew a bit and rather slowly fell, there were many Europeans, Turks, Greeks who did the same - succeeding to various degrees. Wrights were famous for making the first controlled sustained flight and NOT just flight.
