Welcome back travelling on Shanghai-Beijng corridor one day!
China's 22000km HSR network indeed has changed the way Chinese travel in this "small" country.
Now, a second Beijing-Shanghai HSR is being prepared.

At the end of 2017, some HSRs in Western China will open.
The most important one will be 250km/h Xi'an-Chengdu HSR, linking Western China's two biggest cities, reducing travel time from 10+ hours to 3 hours.
