Army generals like Ayub, Zia, Musharraf worked hand in glove with USA, and received HUGE amount of dollars in direct and indirect flows.
If elected governments do the same, then they too will get influx of dollars.
Why it is so hard to understand?
Military generals do not have printing presses to make dollars. They make Pakistan work for USA.
Just like Chinese government makes it people work for USA/EU day and night. And thus they have $4000 billion dollars/Euros in reserve.
Just like INdian government makes its people work for USA/EU day and night, and thus they have $300 billion dollars in reserve.
Just like S Korean government makes its people work for USA/EU day and night, and thus they have $500 billion dollars/Euros in reserve.
Same with Turkey aka NATO member with 150 billion dollars/Euro reserve
Same with Japan
Same with every country that has no natural resources like petroleum or gas.
Hope this clarifies things a bit.
peace
How are reserves build? Please someone tell me this
US is still giving $$ to Pakistani govt. It had given $$ during Zardari era too. The thing is Musharraf utilize that $$ for country whereas politicians utilize that $$ for their bank balance. The important thing is Pakistan was moving forward in Musharraf era with GDP(nominal) growing from 80billion$ to 180billion$ in his 11 years, Pakistan's debt was continuously going down, PKR was stable at 58-59PKR/US$, reserves rose 19times higher from 0.5billionUS$ to 20billionUS$, Pakistani exports were going up, etc. What has demo crazy achieved? Except loot maar?
Dollars coming to Pak go straight to State bank. They are held there to pay the loan installments and for the imports such as petrol.
And how do you know they are held there?
I consider it a spread out lie & nonsense that US start showering extra blessing during military rule.
Off course if you carry dollars in your pocket, they don't have to go to the state bank
however
all international transactions resulting from dollar inflows are held in reserve by the state bank of Pakistan.
Please learn a bit before spreading ignorance.
Military rule works with and supports US projects without making much trouble. This is why they keep the dollar flows going.
Look at the pagal pun of IK, his dharnas interrupted NATO supplies
And NATO has interrupted dollar supplies.
Kuch lo oaur kuch do
is a rule that predates you and I by centuries if not 10s of centuries.
Peace
lol i know this. But you are being total naive here. You think in a country like Pakistan everything is transparent? Alot of corruption happen buddy..
Bro
Corruption is there. Who can deny that.
But as I have described in many of the other threads, that corruption in Pakistan is mostly in rupees and in real estate dealings.
Some of this corruption money is perhaps taken out of the country by buying dollars from open market or use of hundi.
But the dollars coming into the country especially from US or IMF or WB are strictly the state bank's domain.
you cannot do haira phairy or hanky phanky with those.
Not in the tune of millions or billions.
WB/IMF and USA AID offices make sure the dollars go to state bank. There is no other place to put those dollars.
It is all through modern banking and bank clearing houses.
no one can take $1 billion out of the WB transaction and disappear.
It is like you send your parents/family 1000 dollars from America using major banks.
Do you think somone will take $100 out of it and disappear?
Heck not!
your 1000 dollars will be faithfully reach the statebank and your parents will get rupees from one of our local banks.
This is how it works.
If your small amount like $1000 are guaranteed by the international banking system, what do you think they will sleep off when $2billion are transfered.
So please use some sense
and
understand the nature of corruption in Pakistan.
And not just paint everything with the same brush.
Thank you.
“Pakistan has lost an unbelievably high amount, more than Rs8,500 billion (Rs8.5 trillion or US$94 billion), in corruption, tax evasion and bad governance during the last four years of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’s tenure, Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) claims. The TIP advisor, Adil Gillani, told The News that the real impact of corruption in the country’s economy is far more than what is generally estimated or what is formally uncovered. He believes that Pakistan does not need even a single penny from the outside world if it effectively checks the menace of corruption and ensures good governance. Adil Gillani, the TIP representative, who too has been haunted by the government during these years for producing corruption reports, explained that the TIP pointed out corruption of Rs390 billion in 2008, Rs450 billion in 2009, Rs825 billion in 2010 and Rs1,100 billion in 2011 under the present regime. The total of these identified cases of corruption is Rs2,765 billion; reported Ansar Abbasi of The News..
More than 25 Billion US$ corruption during Zaradari domo crazy govt.

Can you post something as big during Military rule?
OK I see the breakdown.
For 2008, they say Rs390 billion.
What is the model and mathematics used for this. I have checked out their website. Their 2008 report doesn't provide any detail as to how they got this figure of Rs 390 billion.
And who took this money and where?
How much was this in dollars vs. Rupees.
One must look at this before making any judgements.
Thank you.
Come on...you are just replying for the sake of argument? I just post the source of Transparency International, all you need to do is contact them & ask them. For me their article made alot of sense because i saw Pakistan dramatically collapsing economically soon after Military rule ended in early 2008 & demo crazy govt took charge.
