Ford to stop making cars in India

Why TATA cars look like copy of Jeep, Nissan Rogue, Land Rover, Honda HVR, etc?

at least we are producing our own designs , unlike our poor neighbours who are still in 18th century as far as car design is concerned .

Not really, in fact it's comparable to the income and not population. Tata is going to topple Hyundai soon, their line up is coming great. They still have to adress their after sales services which Suzuki and Hyundai excel. Mahindra needs more refinements, they're still going with the "tractor" mentality.

I think Tata or Hyundai is going to buy the production line, Ford exit been talked about long before this announcement

I like MG cars, except their resale value.

MG (though a British Brand) - as well as Volvo, is owned by business interests in China. Just to clear the confusion.

About four decades ago your parents were too happy to wait two years in waiting list (and with Marigold flower garland) for these two POS garbage, and that too recycled from 1950's vintage models. These were the only hand-hammered choices to buy in India. Car ownership was minuscule. Remember your auqaat.

At that time we were assembling far better Vauxhall Vivas which were two decades ahead in technology compared with anything in India.

TATA & Mahindra have changed the Indian auto Industry for forever, their safety scores are best in class & have outperformed ford & others in features.

Can you name one 100% bangladeshi Car which has scored 5 star rating ?

I don't like comparing any Industry with bangladeshi one as its degrading but these lungis needs to know their place.

No one in their right mind in Bangladesh will ever buy Indian cars, no matter how gold plated they are. You gotta be kidding me. :lol:

Indian car "reputation" precedes them everywhere they go, including Bangladesh. Most all Indian-made autos are disposable garbage, and bought to be thrown away in three years. If people buy them (maybe trucks), that is the thinking used. Repair is not a viable option. Lost cause.

Why should Bangladeshis buy Indian private vehicles? There is no earthly reason when far far better options are available.

Even re-manufactured three year old Toyota Premio/Allion is a far better choice in luxury and reliability bang-for-the-buck than anything made in India. Take your Indian vehicles and shove it. We don't need them in Bangladesh. Go sell it somewhere else.

And don't start comparing car ownership either. Bangladeshis buy cars with mostly cash (credit options are not widespread) and they pay 300% duty at a minimum, 800% for luxury vehicles. Indians would hardly be able to afford anything with that tariff structure.

Because originality is not a valued Indian quality, even though some Indian auto houses own design studios in Europe.

They are just playing safe.

Who really cares though?

Has anyone ever sat in Europe and thought, "I will go take a loan from a bank and get that wonderful Indian brand vehicle"....

It's usually clueless people who don't know the cars are made in India and mistake it for a better brand.....

lol MG is selling really well in Australia. And here there is wow no Indian cars at all.

Chinese cars have been selling in Europe and many markets for years now despite trade war. If they did not have such protection and anti-China policies they would sell even better.

china has left india in dust in last 30 years...there is nothing to compare. so they feel good compare them self with small weaker countries.

Indian export is less then that of Taiwan... a tiny island.

None of them looks like Nissan Rogue, the TATA Harrier is built on the same base as Range Rover Evoque.

There were 2 or 3 fatalities, all in the rear and didnt wear the seatbelts. Kia Seltos splits into two in a freak accident, cops probe accident (hindustantimes.com)
It also fared poorly in the GNCAP test with only 3 stars.

This is quite rare but not unheard of. This accident was the result of a rare combination of factors, which resulted in the splitting of the monocoque structure completely due to kinetic energy of a high speed impact in a small area.
