So you don't have any facts to prove that India is not a Banana Republic, as he had described...

I don't need to. Everyone knows what India is.We are an open society.

Unlike china which is a closed society and need to "prove" things to others.

now overtook UK again with out Pakistan and Bangladesh

Based on where Pakistan and Bangladesh are today, from where they started, vis a vis us, that was actually a good thing.

China certainly has a more directed internal development, but that is because China need not worry about things like elections with opposition parties, a free press, human rights, public protests, etc. India does. It's the difference between a representative democracy and a one party, autocratic state. Democracy is always messier, but more durable in the end.

Right said brother. Most of us here are going to see the evidence of it in our own lifetimes. Nothing against China or the route they chose. Ours was just better. And will be the eventual victor.

70% of the world's seizes counterfeit goods come from China.

87% of the value of counterfeits seized originated in China.

Majority of executions happen in china (more than rest of the world put together)

41% of all global cyber crime attacks originated from China.

This is the price of "chinese model" that has worked wonders.

Look mate.. In the real world these stats mean nothing, these are all good for people who can afford to get online and get in to dick measuring contests, For the millions of poor who cant afford three square meals a day let alone get online and gloat about media freedom or some inconsequential argument about counterfeit goods, Means shyt

Fact of the matter is an average Chinese person has a way better standard of living, Health, Education, Social welfare than an average Indian, And both countries have a similar number of population, The fact whatever the governing system they have the Chinese have been able to bring their populace to where they stand now is truly remarkable and except for a few dissidents billions of Chinese really dont care how they're governed as long as their government provides the best for them

Now Indians can come up with all kinds of excuses about colonialism, The Congress party, Or the corruption and the BIMARU states blah blah blah, But Even after 70 odd years of Independence for India to be where they are is nothing much to gloat about, Majority of Indians are worse off by South Asian standards let alone East Asia

East Asians and South East Asian economies are where they are now is through sheer hard work with their heads down on targets not by gloating.. So if Indians gloat less and work more, I'm sure India will get to where it needs to be much faster

For all intents and purposes, India is a banana republic, a wretched place of poverty and disease.....

The only difference between India and other well-recognized banana republics is that India has so far avoided overly negative headlines in the international media; Indian lobbies in the US and the UK work very hard to make India look good. As noted above, this mainly serves to prop up the self-esteem of NRIs.

It has become fashionable to compare India to China.

This comparison seems extremely far-fetched. Chinese GDP per capita is more than five times higher, and is growing more than four-times faster than India’s in absolute terms. If India keeps growing at the recent high rate of 7.5% and China at a mere 6.3%, it will take India more than 135 years to catch up with China’s economic output in absolute terms.

(Above are the words from an indian writer...please, see references below)

It is truly disturbing picture that the indian writer brings out in the REAL world. Instead of making fun of indians here...we need to pause for thought..show compassion and develop understanding in order to deal with this bizarrre state of affairs...

When this circus in india comes crashing down...who is going to be blamed?

What distractions will the regime use?

What promises will it make?

The smoke screen of black money operation is just a stunt...cui bono ????

There are also sane vocies in india. These voices need a podium.

Jayant Bhandari has written a thought provoking and brutally honest series.

1- India’s Government Makes Banknotes Worthless by Decree Overnight

As I write this in the morning of 9th November 2016, there are huge lines forming outside gold shops in India — and gold traded heavily until late into the night yesterday. Depending on who you ask, the retail price of gold has gone up between 15% and 20% within the last 10 hours.

2- Chaos in the Wake of the Ban

Here is a link to Part 1, about what happened in the first two days after India’s government made Rs 500 (~$7.50) and Rs 1,000 (~$15) banknotes illegal. They can now only be converted to Rs 100 (~$1.50) or lower denomination notes, at bank branches or post offices. Banks were closed the first day after the decision. What follows is the crux of what has happened over the subsequent four days.

3) When Money Dies

In part-I of the dispatch we talked about what happened during the first two days after Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 banknotes, comprising of 88% of the monetary value of cash in circulation. In part-II, we talked about the scenes, chaos, desperation, and massive loss of productive capacity that this ban had led to over the next few days.

4) A Market Gripped by Fear

The Indian Prime Minister announced on 8th November 2016 that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes would no longer be legal tender. Linked are Part-I, Part-II and Part-III updates on the rapidly encroaching police state.

The economic and social mess that Modi has created is unprecedented. It will go down in history as an epitome of naivety and arrogance due to Modi’s self-centered desire to increase tax-collection at any cost.

5) Gold Price Skyrockets....

Expect a continuation of new social engineering notifications, each sabotaging wealth-creation, confiscating people’s wealth, and tyrannizing those who refuse to be a part of the herd, in the process destroying the very backbone of the economy and civilization.

There are clear signs that in a very convoluted way, possession of gold for investment purposes will be made illegal. Expect capital controls to follow. Chaos from people’s inability to access the money in their bank accounts is now spreading to the people who have so far been unaffected: the middle class.

This is a completely unnecessary man-made disaster, with the single aim of glorifying Narendra Modi.

6) India's Rapid Progression Towards a Police State

Time-Covers-2.jpg
There are undoubtedly many differences between the two gentlemen depicted above, but both appear to have mastered the age-old trick of extending one’s grip on political power by inflicting chaos.

As the deadline of 31st December 2016 approaches, Gresham’s law has been turned upside down. When they needed to be converted, the banned currency notes were trading for a 20% discount to their face value. In the meantime, the discount has disappeared and the banned notes are trading at a premium of 10%. The mafia which deals in the banned notes could not possibly be happier — it promises to be a big supporter of Modi going forward.

7)- Modi’s Fantastic Promises

There is still huge support for Modi even among the poor. A big carrot is dangled before them, which makes many stay numb to their current suffering. During his election campaign in 2014, Modi promised to deposit more than Rs 1.5 million (~$22,000) in each poor person’s account once the government had seized all black money.

New-Notes-disintegrating.jpeg
Massive problems have been reported with the new bills. Some have been printed on defective paper and are simply falling apart. The inferior quality of the print job is generally often on the appalling side of deplorable. The new notes are counterfeited with great abandon, quite likely to a much greater extent than they ever were in the past. So much for Modi’s plan to stop counterfeiting.

How he arrived at this fantastic figure is anyone’s guess. But given India’s GDP of $1,718 per capita, Modi has promised to deposit 1,300% of annual GDP in individual bank accounts. The total amount would be larger than the entire GDP of the US. Evidently, this does not even remotely add up.

If less than 1% out of population of 1.3 billion makes it to the top and garners headlines and some gloss...is that measure of success?

Slow moving tragedy of human suffering... 100s of millions living as subhumans and they can post is glitter and gloss.

When will these people take ownership of this hunger, this heartbreaking misery?

Is there any national shame in the resident super power?

Purpose of any form of government is to provide services and improve the lives of its citizens. if indian democracy is such rare jewel then why has it failed to deliver...why was it not the first to lift 100s of millions out of abject poverty?

Can indians always keep hiding behind this democracy rethoric? it has worn thin now... time for a new excuse...

Without taking ownership of wrongs, never can the rights be done.

The UN needs to take ownership of this part of humanity and speak against caste system and subhuman existance of these forgotten souls...

indians demand UNSC because they have the numbers...what better way to deman when the indians have elevated these subhumans to human level.

All those talk of spirituality and yoga remain hollow... Charity begins at home.

Double speak is hollow really.

Since you've drank the kool-aid on the sentiment that India is a banana republic, can you at least provide us what constitutes a banana republic and what are other countries that can be considered "banana republics"? If we have a criteria, at least we can evaluate india based on those measures.

Right now it's a lot of commentary and not so much statistical or comparative analysis.

Finally, apart from pointing out the opinions, can you provide some recommendations on what india can do to improve the situation? What has it not tried that it can "do more"?

Your response would be appreciated.

I am not your mate, and from the tone and tenor of your post, its clear that you are not my mate either. So let us dispense with such condescending tone , shall we ?

In the real world nobody needs gratuitous advice or opinion from a patronising prick who needs to run down billions to feel good about himself.

Some might think that's not fair, But that is in the real world.

In the real world, the chinese "standard of living" is very much suspect when 26% of men under 40 suffer from Impotence and erectile dysfunction.

When 40% of men over 40 suffer from impotence. The end result of their state sponsored emasculation of citizens.

The standard of living is very much suspect when almost 50% of chinese men admit to committing rape and abuse women in a attempt to take out their frustration on somebody.

These are not my figure, these are results of chinese national and international publications.

The chinese standard of living is very much suspect when their govt. "score" citizens and deny them basic service on the basis of that score. When govt. deny couples to have children and have state sponsored killing of unborn fetus to adhere to state "policy".

The vast majority of global citizens will reject any such advancement in development index if this is the price to be paid for their supposed advancement.

That is why the "chinese model" have no takers anywhere in the world. THAT is why they have to come to forums like these to do propaganda that will help enhance their image, because in the real world no one wants to be like them.

Indians do not need to come up with excuses of justify our existence to anyone, much less low life trolls in pdf.

Nobody has any right to comment on Indian habits or even pass value judgement on our ability to work hard or less. Only Bigots would even attempt to generalise 1.2 billion people on earth the way you have done. They way the chinese do.

Finally India will get where we need to be at our own time and pace and by our own effort. Only a fool would think that we have anything to prove to the world. We don't. Our civilisational past is a testimony to our abilities and this reality cannot be wished away by any Bigot seeking to gloat over somebody else's misery.

So my advice to you would be to zip it.

In case you have not realised what that means, It means Do not bother to reply.

Dear indian,

The assertion of india being a banana republic is made by the indian writer.

Kindly, read the articles before valiant attempts to dodge the Truth.

After reading his comprehensive work, you are certainly welcome to challenge his conclusions.

Looking forward to your analytical rebuttal of your fellow indian writer.

Thanks,

SPF

For the red highlighted part, i suspect you're an online gay looking for attention in a defense forum hoping of getting some cheap orgasms by confronting male members here
For the bold part, the value of your wordings will be nothing different than your daily open defecation practice: Let it all out in the open="no shame, no dignity" as always:help:
