The new Malaysian 8x8 armoured vehicle AV-8 designed for the 21st century has been revealed to the public during the 80th Army Day anniversary celebration in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan. The Malaysian defence ministry spokesman said, the Turkey-designed armoured vehicle was flown to Malaysia and currently placed at an army camp in Port Dickson.

The new AV-8 8x8 armoured vehicle was unveiled during the the 80th Army Day anniversary celebration.

"This 8x8 armoured vehicle is a prototype and it is here to undergo several weeks of terrain and weather tests," said the Malaysian defence ministry spokesman.

The new 8x8 armoured vehicle uses Turkish technology and was known as 'PARS', but a factory would be put up locally to produce a local version known as 'AV-8'.

Deftech of South Africa and FNSS from Turkey has presented AV-8, the latest generation of wheeled combat armoured vehicle for Malaysian army during the DSA 2012, Defence Services Asia exhibition. The vehicle will be delivered in 12 variants. The AV8 is a new generation of wheeled armoured vehicle with special emphasis on mobility, protection, payload and growth potential.

The AV-8 will be manufactured by DEFTECH in Malaysia, based on the FNSS-designed PARS 8x8 multi-purpose, multi-mission, wheeled armored vehicle. The AV-8 will be redesigned by FNSS and DEFTECH engineers specifically to meet the requirements of the Malaysian army.

Now, ARMA 8x8 has a serious rival.

Maybe childish but I am still in favor of ARMA 6x6 in comparison with PARS 6x6 just because of attractive appearance of ARMA 6x6.

It is a tough question! Both satisfy NATO standards. But in performance comparison with each others! I have no idea.

guys can you tell me how much these new apc advance than BTR80 series, i do not have much knowledge, if they are good Bangladesh should buy from Turkey, we are already good military ally.

Georgians has replaced BTR-80s with Nurol Ejder which is much inferior than FNSS Pars. Probably Pars' moving parts much capable than BTRs'. Turkish Army has BTRs too, firstly TA changed wasteful russian engines. Russian automobile industry really sucks against westerners.
