What's new

Flood Response

Need Dam constructed

Need New Canal network to distribute the excess water out of the Dam reservoir
We are missing the "Engineering Part" where Humans engineer the path of the Canal flow , to divert extra water to storage zones away from traditional route

We need to build a Larger Dam in some where middle of country (Kala Bagh Dam)
and then develop branching Canal Network to Divert water flow from 5-6 Canals away from the Natural Flow of water out to Sea thru the Indus
Channel

Since we don't have this DAM , the associated projects for Artificial Man Made Routes for water those projects have never lifted off the ground

Without the DAM (Kalabagh) the water just flows 100% thru the Indus flooding Sindh and Baluchistan or even South Punjab

The water today OVERFLOWS the river because as water moves south more water joins the flow from Southern cities

There is no "CONTROL" over the flow of water

If Kala Bagh Dam existed it would stop the flooding in many of the red zones in map

Sewan, Sindh

Flood Relief Operations: Manchar Lake, Sehwan - 5 September 22 Likelihood of breaching Flood Protection Bund was felt due to increased water level in Manchar Lake & MNVD. Resultantly, Civil Administration issued threat to Sehwan for immediate remedial measures..

The Do's and Don'ts of helping flood victims

Amidst all the relief efforts, we're coming across footage that point to clear mistakes being made.

As Pakistan struggles to regain its footing from devastating and widespread floods, we are seeing Pakistanis rise to the aid of their fellow country-people. Donations are pouring in, volunteers are helping those in need and overall, political leaders have stepped up their efforts to raise awareness.
Amidst this, however, we're coming across footage that point to clear mistakes being made during the relief efforts. And when we say clear, we mean quite obvious actions that we would have thought wouldn't need to be pointed out.
So in good faith, as people continue to help those in need, here's a list of dos and don'ts:

DO provide food and other goods for the people displaced and affected by the floods.

DON'T turn it into a scripted moment where they feel like props, not human beings. Handing them a juice box and then asking them to pose with it is demeaning. They are not content for social media photos; they're humans who need our help and support.

DO take pictures or videos of yourself/your group/organisation carrying out relief work if you want to spread awareness, call for donations or ensure transparency.
DON'T turn it into a circus with more camera-people than affectees. Also, ask if they are okay being photographed.

DO strategise on how to reach hard to access areas and villages to provide bags of rations. You can get in touch with large-scale NGOs, local administration and planners in the area.
DON'T throw sacks of rations out of helicopters, causing them to explode on impact, wasting all the food. Also, don't try to reach difficult areas without any planning so that you yourself become the person who needs help.

DO donate to reliable and trustworthy organisations.
DON'T shame people for sending necessary products to people affected by the floods. Let's only build on the work being done and not digress from the big picture.

DON'T make light of the situation and compare flooded areas to developed cities like Venice. No one is laughing, it only comes off as highly insensitive.
DO listen to what people have to say, empathise and really try to understand what they need from you in that situation.

Do: Donate something from looted stolen wealth instead of putting all your focus on Imran Khan.

How much will this flood affect Pakistan's agricultural sector?
Are we looking into potential starvation with all the harvests being underwater?

There are other ways too if dam becomes a political sideshow.

The other way is buying a floating ship and camper
The poor don't have the money which is why unfortunately they suffer

Normally such decisions as the Kala Bagh Project should have been enacted 40 years ago

The other way is buying a floating ship and camper
Dam becomes political at some point, move ahead.

1. water treatment plant
2. water recycling plant
3. water reservoir
4. water drainage systems
5. Keeping possible natural low lying areas vacant.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

There much more at stake here than silly politics.

Dear members if you are living abroad please avoid transfering funds to Al Khidmat (despite them doing great work on the ground) as they are prescribed organisation in some western intel agencies and I'd rather not have your bank accounts flagged despite you sending money for a very good cause (flood relief).

There is. Published list of reputable NGOs and charities on dawn.com

I only trust Imran Khan and Edhi Foundation in Pakistan

I donated to DAM construction fund when Supreme court Judge was honest man
Like most Pakistani people

Islamabad Courts have ruined that Trust by great margin on Courts
