There is no deforestation happening in Gujarat or anywhere in India for that matter. India increased its forest cover from 19% to 24% of the land. Now the govt earmarked 6 billion dollars exclusively for forest growth. So deforestation is not the worry here. Gujarat is mostly desert land. What Gujarat is attempting is greater than what Ranthambore or Kaziranga have done. It is attempting at preventing fragmentation of lion habitat and hence turning all of Saurashtra into lion territory.you see you are too busy cherrypicking the success you do not see the obvious loophole.
the lions may have enough game to pounce upon for the time being but deforestation of the land will result in less and less prey and thus unsettling the fine balance. furthermore even the game is feeding on the crops as there is no dense forest left. Why is Gujrat not opting for a Kaziranga or Ranthanbore type solution to this is beyond me?
