What's new

First time since 1971 ,Pakistan is alone today - Zaid hamid

frankly pakistan never had ideal relations with Afghanistan and Iran ;) so whats new in it ?

That would be a preferable situation but it is not the case unfortunately.

The Chinese themselves have heavy interest in the Indo-China trade which stands at billions of USD per year while ours is just a small portion of that amount. True, China sees Pakistan as a friendly state, but the rising importance of India for them could mean a different scenario in the coming decades wrt Chinese foreign policy.

Afghanistan is becoming increasingly vocal against Pakistan despite us hosting millions of them. Not to be offensive, but if a remote, backward country like Afghanistan is becoming so aggressive, then it is our failure for not shutting them up.

Most Islamic countries have good trade and cultural relations with India, much better than ours. I wouldn't count on that as our diplomatic prowess. If it wasn't for the OIC, they would have been supporting India over Pakistan. They remain neutral and prove that our overall diplomacy is still stuck in the 80s.

That is where overt and covert diplomacy comes in. And that's been our failure ever since Musharraf left. I wouldn't agree with most of what that man did, but his foreign policy had put Pakistan well ahead of India. Now, the reverse is true.

Not really!!

Once again our diplomacy is generally poor, we have absent, untrained, unprofessional politicians, both them and their parties are only concerned about filling their stomachs then looking after Pakistan

regardless of this we have scored on the rare occasion some major foreign policy goals but at the same time failed to take advantage of our situation for decades

Pakistan is a growing economy and our relationship with China is strategic and goes beyond trade, the same for Turkey (& the GCC to be fair but they are stuck in the past and Pakistan has moved on)

when countries have issues looking after themselves they can only give nominal support to others this was the situation in the past

but today that is not the case with both countries major world powers, having said that Pakistans aim is to self sufficient and to have the ability to defend Pakistan on its own with no need for anyone else

We cant simply put Afghanistan in its place we are not openly being attacked by a standing army, war is complicated and expensive and unless we are directly attacked we will deal with the situation as it arises

although I to suggest a more robust response

foreign relations are individual just because countries we have relationships with also have them with india means little

our relationship with Russia is growing but it dosent mean they have suddenly abandoned india

The bottom line is this, we need to see Pakistan grow and become more important, we only truly hate one country that is india, we only want to see one country destroyed and that is india, we only want to block, harm and take on one country and that is india

If Pakistan can grow and progress our relationships with our allies will reach new levels, do far we haven't been able to take advantage but let Pakistan grow and lets see
