First submarines commissioned in Navy

Two submarines have been added in Bangladesh Navy on Sunday for the first time at a special ceremony in the area adjacent to Chittagong naval jetty.



Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the two submarines -- BN Nabajatra and BN Joyjatra -- at the ceremony.



The two submarines, procured from China, reached Chittagong Port on December 22. Those were handed over to Bangladesh on November 14.



Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said the two submarines, which are able to destroy enemys’ warships and submarines.



The two Type 035G submarines are diesel electric submarines which are 76 meters in length and 7.6 meters wide and comprised with torpedo and mines.



Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed received the submarines.

Why old Chinese subs?? BD have better economy now (as per BD members here) why not good tested western or Russian system like Type-214 or Amur class or used ones like Type-209 or Kilo class?

he's faking it with overwhelming acting and with highs and lows in his voice.... i don't think that's his regular way of speaking

anyways acording to todd and lindbergs classification of naval strength.... bangladesh is defined as a non blue water navy with limited blue water capability and is ranked at 5.... burma is ranked at 8 alongside with the likes of sri lankan navy... the strongest navy of the region is indian navy with a rank of 3 and pakistan navy is on a 4.

1 is the highest and 10 is the lowest rating... united states came first because of its ability to project power globally at a moments notice.... while france, UK china are at 2 because they dont enjoy nearly as much power as US does....


if we keep expanding at this rate... we should be able to get ourselves into 4 alongside pakistan by/beyond 2030

Not bad for a beginning when our massive neighbor has the habit of getting diarrhea whenever we make moves to strengthen our deference against our top potential adversary in clad in saffron. SHW / BAL will not remain for ever. We will then acquire the best and team up with natural friends.
