I guess the waiting area with wide, comfy sofas and chairs are for some 'vip' or higher class airfare? If not then it would be some extravagance of space and spending. But then...I have seen it plenty of times in Pakistan (and possibly in other 3rd world countries) where the 'looks' are preferred over efficiency and conservation of resources. Well, at least better than North Korea's cemetery looking ambiance.
