First metro rail to start plying in Lucknow within 3 years: CM

Congrats to Lucknow btw. I've heard it is much more developed than other cities in UP.

Lucknow is better than other cities in UP besides Noida which is basically a satellite town of Delhi. Other cities are worse off. You step out of Lucknow and most of UP seems like India of 30 years back. BTW i've been hearing about this Lucknow metro project since many years and dont know how far they've succeeded in starting the project besides the blue print. I'll take SP govt's claim of starting the metro in 3 years with a pinch of salt. I'd be surprised if the first rail moves before atleast a decade.

nagpur is much better Bhai, or may be i've always been to wrong places only, in Lucknow

I went to Nagpur a decade back, i'd say its tad better than Lucknow in infrastructure and roads, but Lucknow is a historical city with great monuments and ofcourse one of the best Non-veg food in the country, so overall i'd rate it equal to Nagpur .
Old Lucknow is congested and has poor infrastructure and planning, while new city is decent and comparable to other tier-2 cities.

How is Lucknow compared to ghaziabad?

Areas in Ghaziabad adjacent to Delhi and Noida are good and this part seems like NCR in true sense but the rest of the city on the other side of the Hindon is not so good. Lucknow is way better than Ghaziabad in every sense.

I know which route you took to Charbagh from the airport, that route is through old city and congested with traffic jams, asli city to charbagh k baad shuru hoti hai

Is Akhilesh pushing for Metro rail project before 2017 assembly poll? - The Times of India


LUCKNOW: Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav seems to be in a hurry to ensure the first phase of metro-rail runs from Amausi airport to Charbagh railway station in Lucknow by December 31, 2016 so that his government has ample time to showcase the development model before assembly elections scheduled in 2017.

Metro Man E Sreedharan supervising the project as principal advisor of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) had assured during his recent visit to city that he would complete the project by September 2017. But in a bid to run metro rail before elections, CM prevailed over Sreedharan and asked him to deliver the project at the earliest. LMRC is special purpose vehicle formed by state government to execute the project.

Akhilesh's eagerness to expedite the project can be understood from the fact that he managed to lay foundation stone just a few days before code of conduct was implemented so that tender work and land acquisition formalities could be carried out without any problem during the elections. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav made it a point at the ceremony that officials complete the project in 18 months rather than to drag it on for three years.

While Akhilesh is leaving no stone unturned to start off metro work on time, his instructions to issue print advertisement for recruitment of managing director and three functional directors of LMRC remains unexecuted.

Reportedly, CM wishes to recruit experts from across the country with rich experience in delivering metro projects successfully. Even Sreedharan pointed out the delay and asked the chief secretary to issue advertisement soon. On Monday, Sreedharan inspected the entire North South corridor and proposed sites for metro stations. He examined the number of ridership, targeted land for acquisition, locations of stations and the design of metro depot in PAC campus off Kanpur Road.

He suggested the priority section of metro which was earlier proposed from Amausi to Alambagh should now be made from Transport Nagar (next station from Amausi) to Charbagh as the area fetches maximum ridership.

Arey yaar ghaziabad mein abhi bhi 7-8 ghante ke power cut hote hain kya? I think only Indirapuram and Kaushambi can be compared to Noida/Delhi. Aise to Sahibabad is also next to Delhi, lekin us jagah ki haalat khasta hai , aur I think future mein bhi rahegi
