First Block 2 JF-17s under construction in Pakistan

In second last question of an Interview with Air/Cdr Mahmood Khalid, He said one aircraft was lost due Pilot Error. is that so?

What I knew was the wing of an aircraft got separated from the fuselage , while pilot was practicing for Air show.

It was human error, that JF-17 was in Pakistan not practicing for Air Show. According to reports from insiders the particular JF-17 was being used for data collection for the JF-17 simulator and one of the fly by wire sensors was still covered with test device or not reverted to normal when the plane took off. The pilot put excessive G and the fly by wire was not able to prevent it which is why the wing broke in mid air. Besides pilot someone on the ground crew is to blame as well but pilot is supposed to take a look at the aircraft before strapping in.

Well to some extent the reason was data collection device which been placed at wing and when pilot took the third and final run which was at low pass the wing has been disintegrated due to excessive drag of device which has been coupled with the aircraft for data collection ...

How much G's was he pulling ? isn't Jf17 supposed to have 8.5 G as standard but these jets still can pull about 9G's ?

And any plans of building JF-17 B after block II?

Yes it will be developed after 2016 ... they already showed the model in Paris airshow

JF17 can pull upto 9 G (heard it on interview) .. But G limit is restricted to 8 is due to increase in airframe life

An aircraft is basically a flying machine so engineering principles must apply.

G force or G load which is experienced by pilot is the numerical ratio of the sum of all forces acting on the aircraft/pilot to the gravitational force at the earth surface. For example a 10 lb object would weight about 50 lb under a 5G pull. This happens when aircraft accelerates, brakes suddenly but mostly at the tight high speed turn.

It is said that pilot starts to black out at about 5 G due to blood draining way from the brain due to inertia. G suits are designed primarily to restrict the flow of blood towards legs, but understand that 9 G is considered the limit of human endurance and seldom exceeded.

Without doubt there is a safety factor built in the air frame so that if the G limit is exceeded in case of emergency, wings don’t fall out. Nevertheless most max G limits for the aircraft have been arrived at after extensive stress testing before the aircraft becomes operational. Like any machine where designed limits are consistently exceeded, there would be strong adverse effects such as metal fatigue which results in cracks being developed in the air frame. Here is what did happen:

I have therefore strong doubts that pilots of the aircraft designed with max 8.5 would be pulling 9 G on regular basis.

I wounder that why PAF isn't using AESA radar in block 2... PAF must add AESA radar in JF-17 block 2 and increase hardpoints to make it capable to counter SU-30 mki :undecided:

The JF-17 was never meant to counter the Su-30MKIs, they were meant to replace older PAF fighters with a relatively modern machine, one that was sanction-proof.

AESA is both costly, and likely hasn't been developed for the thunder as of it.

No joke mate, JF-17 along with F-16s are here to counter SU-30s and all other indian inventory. You don't say 76 F-16s would alone face 500+ modern IAF inventory. Lets be real PAF would throw in whatever we have, we are literally out of options until PAF gets a 5B per anum budget in a far far distant galactic future.

PAF does not plan to build JF-17B as ground simulators are proving to be a good training platform for its pilots plus the JFT is 'easy' to operate as per the project leader.
JF-17B can be offered to potential buyers if there is a need for them.

are you kidding .... if Jf-17 block 1 2 or 3 will not counter the Su-30 mki or Su-29 Mki then why we are wasting money on them .... be realistic, don't forget Jf-17 abilities ... and IN SHA ALLAH block 3 will match with ability like F-16's and Su-30mki if we will use AESA system in thunder Block 3.

always believe what we have and we have birds like F-16's and JF-17 thunder block 1 2 and Soon block 3.
and we must use AESA in block 3 ...

when we can waste 1.2 billion or more on Metro project then IN SHA ALLAH we will buy AESA too ...

Whether or not it's meant to face mki or not, if it comes to it it will HAVE to face it. One won't be able to tell mki to turn back because JFT was not meant to fight it.
