any official source which says that it is operational... and not in testing phase.

Makes sense when PAF was saying Mirage would stay until 2020.
BTW while JFT is a good replacement for F-7, somehow it does not seem to be so for Mirage. It actually has less payload and range, lower ceiling and less speed in comparison. So in terms of raw performance not does not add value.

More F-7 [not PGs] than Mirages but my opinion is PAF would still look for more F-16s to replace some of those non ROSE Mirages it doesn't have to be equal in numbers but the capabilities would be multifold...
whats the status of engine?Source's has already confirmed several tests with Dual racks
I agree....JF-17 is no replacement for the Mirages...different roles altogether and just not enough 'juice' when it comes to the engine/speed. Our Mirages are for deep strike roles and SEAD missions whilst the JFT's will be primarily used for air defence purpose and combat air support purposes. Heck even the F-16's are not a proper platform to replace our Mirages.
PAF will probably look into it long term...along with a dedicated CAS platform as well which we severely lack to support our troops in a conventional war.
We can't afford dedicated role platforms. Any future induction should and would be multirole but for mirage replacement the platform needs to be able to carry significantly more tonnage of ordinance over long distances. f-16s are a good example of such a platform and PAF would be scavenging as many units as it can from different sources but we would never get enough numbers.
Honestly speaking J-10b fitted the role but that's not happening any more.
Multi-role has it's own limitations...both JFT and F-16 are primarily for air-to-air combat with decent ground attack capabilities; F-16 being better of course. Yeah perhaps the F-16's can replace the Mirages...because even the USAF uses them as Wild Weasels.
Honestly I believe currently the focus on JFTs and F-16s is the right policy...whilst in the future it is better to go for stealthier platforms like J-31 once we have the funds. I was always against the inductions of J-10 platform.
First Block 2 JF-17s under construction in Pakistan

Production of the first two of 50 Block 2 JF-17s on order by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is now well under way at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, with the first expected to fly by the end of the year.
The Block 2 JF-17 has several capability increases over the Block 1s, but the main boost to the PAF as well as to export potential is the installation of an air-to-air refuelling system. One aircraft has been fitted with a refuelling probe, which protrudes from the right side of the fuselage just behind the cockpit, sitting forward of the pilot's position. It is being used for flight trials.
However, this modification will not appear in Block 2 aircraft until midway through the production at the Aircraft Manufacturing Factory (AMF), probably in early 2016, PAF officials said. Coupled with software enhancements, other new features include an upgrade to the avionics system that works around China's Nanjing KLJ-7 radar.

As a result, the Block 2s can add the Chinese-designed C-802 anti-ship missile and SD-10A beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile to the Block 1s' existing armoury, which includes Mk 82/84 dumb bombs and the PL-5-EII short-range air-to-air missile. All the Block 1s will eventually be upgraded with the Block 2 improvements.
With an urgent need to export JF-17s, a two-seater will be built in the Block 2 time frame. The PAF had always said that a two-seater is not urgent, but Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt now admits that a dual seater is a necessity. "We realise that it is required, because the air forces interested in buying JF-17 want one," he said.
PAF pilots currently converting to JF-17 are accumulating around 25 hours on a JF-17 simulator operational at Kamra, where one of the two operational squadrons is based. Nearly all the Block 1s have now been delivered to the PAF, which has a current requirement for 150 to replace the ageing F-7P and Mirage III/Vs.

Earlier than Tejas in every way, isn't it ?when is the 3rd squad of JF 17 expected ? Kind of late. Isn't it?
How are the 2 linked? Or did you just want to increase your post count at the cost of looking foolish?Earlier than Tejas in every way, isn't it ?
Both KSA and UAE have the same policies about induction a weapon system ...It is similar to their lust for cars...whatever fresh comes in the military market, they grab it with any price the seller puts...Good.
But Pakistan should work on some 4.5 gen fighter now jointly with Saudi Arabia & UAE. Pakistan got best experienced engineers whereas KSA & UAE have plenty of resources.
How are the two linked...? Huh ...why don't you just browse all the crap Indians are posting about the 'superiority' of Tejas over Thunder....I have 100 reasons to tell you how both are linked ...btw how late the Tejas was ?How are the 2 linked? Or did you just want to increase your post count at the cost of looking foolish?
