What's new

First batch of Turkish Sungur Manpad system handed over to Turkish Armed Forces

. . . .
.
Give/sell some to Ukraine - they can use it in actual operational combat conditions and provide actual real feedback.

Turkey is learning alot from their drones taking on Russian equipment which will feed into the next generation of drones, and the same can apply to this system and other products.
Right but Syria is also an option...

This is great! Hard work pays off. We waited for Sungur a long time and didn't get disappointed.

looks like Stinger ?

what kind of motor is giving it a 8km range

btw Stinger also can reach long ranges

I am pretty sure the Pak military will acquire it. During the Kargil War they downed both jets and choppers using manpads...

Turkey produce locally Stinger missile so ofc with this ToT and experience of production, it will have a lot of similarities which is logic.

Syrian Air Force is completely destroyed or obselete so it wouldn't create a lot of problems for the TADF because they have air superiority. But I can see it in Ukraine because till now Russians don't have completely " air superiority"

Roketsan developed SUNGUR with the experience gained from HİSAR
and SUNGUR has superior technological features compared to STINGER

SUNGUR use Roketsan made double stage solid fuel Rocket motor

SUNGUR : range 8km
STINGER : range 4,8 km

SUNGUR : altitude 4 km
STINGER : altitude 3,8 km

STINGER use Infrared (IR) seeker head
SUNGUR use Imager Infrared (IIR) seeker head

Enemy flying elements use flare to avoid IR guided missiles
but SUNGUR uses IIR to avoid this deception. SUNGUR not only goes to heat but also takes the general view to hit the target. even if the target element use flare , can not evade the IIR guided missile
