What's new

First Bangladeshi manufactured family car is here!

if you missed it, this "car" is indian

Indians are recently so proud of anything new that comes out of BD. how nice

"everyone's" is sobar. sobari is probably another way of saying savari which means trip

It is not called a "CAR" in India (or it is not considered as a car) this is not a Nano mate... this TATA Iris.... smaller version of Tata Ace..... TATA is planning this vehicle as a replacement of Autos. In the city which i live, the charges of this vehicle is same of an Auto, and In kerala we are planning to have a different stand for this taxis...

. . .
dishonesty in all forms should be rejected...... they should've been honest to say that its an Indian car assembled in Bangladesh.....
but as it seems, "made in Bangladesh" and "made in India" have enormous difference..... its a marketing "trick".....

.
Almost as ugly as this guy below

Seriously south Asians need to go to design schools or something. Anyway this is not a significant achievement for Bangladesh, we have been assembling cars for some time now, plus I am sure as hell that this vehicle isn't of Bangladeshi origin

@ Before rejecting it let us named as "Awami Car" which would be understood by all. We can compare it with "Mujib Coat" ???

@ Does my friends knows that we had been using all foreign made cars since the begininig of 19 century.

The first Bangladeshi made car is here name Sobari (Meaning: ‘For All’ in Bangla). The Shobari family car was made in Obhoynagor, in Jessore district, and costs only 6 lakhs and 45 thousand taka. Aside from the engine, which was made in India, everything else in the Sobari family car was made locally. The car looks quite similar to India’s Nano car. To be precise the design is almost replica to the Tata Magic IRIS. In Bangladesh this car will be re-branded as Sobari.

The diesel run car can go on 35 kilometers per liter of fuel and has a top speed of 75 kilometer per hour. It can accommodate five passengers. The car also sports LED displays and DVD quality sound system along with other modern features.

The car was displayed on Sunday, the third and last day of ‘The biggest and only show for the automotive world of Bangladesh’ which was held at the Bangabandhu International Convention Centre. The motor show started on April 18 and ended on April 20.

Mohammad Rowshan Khan, the marketing manager of Sobari family car, stated to Banglanews24 that except for the engine, this is the first car that has been manufactured in Bangladesh. He also said that if the demand for the car increases, it will help reduce unemployment and also enhance the reputation of the country. He further stated that aside from the Nano there is no other family car that is cheaper than Sobari.

@arp2041 @BDforever @idune @kalu_miah @MBI Munshi and others...........

Is this suppose to be a 'Cartoon Charachter'?! Will it feature in 'Cars 3' or maybe 'Cars 4'?!

Speaking of cars, members of this forum who are residing in the US should signup for this 3-wheeler wonder:

Elio Motors: Ultra High Mileage Vehicle

Made in USA, Shreveport, Louisiana with 90% or more US made components.

Its a truly all around great buy for $6800 and it is not a death trap like Tata Nano or other derivatives like the small van above which are better than motorcycles but not highway safe at all. This elio has 3 air bags, roll cage and 5 star crash rating. 0-60 in 9.6 sec and top speed over 100 mph. 3 cylinder 1000 cc engine. Comfortable ride for 2 people, power window, stereo and air conditioner. Perfect commuter for 85 mpg hwy and 50 mpg city.

You can make reservations at elio website above. Production starts in 2015.

There are other 3 wheelers/trikes in the market, but not as cheap, as feature rich and as practical as this first mass produced wonder, which I believe will revolutionize auto industry and people's commuting choice and method. It will beat the Smart hands down for example.

it seems like a compact car and maybe not that necessary for wide open roads you find in the States. i would still prefer this over any Tata-built coffin any day
