Fight during Pak-India hockey match

PERTH: During the tri-nation hockey match between Pakistan and India a fight broke out between players, Geo News reported.

The incident took place during the closing moments of the game and players from both sides physically attacked each other.

The match was leveled by Pakistan 3-3 in the last minutes of the game following which Indian players lost their temper and attacked Pakistani players.

According to initial reports Indian players hit Pakistani players with hockey sticks during the scuffle.

The manager of the Pakistan hockey team however downplayed the incident and said that emotions run high when both nations are on the same field.

I dont know if this is being posted here or not so i have posted it in members section. Pretty pathetic display of sports men ship. I don't know who's fault is there India or Pakistan so i will reserve my comments and request others to do the same.

It wasn't a fight some spectator hit the Pakistani former captain

There was an initial scuffle when the Indian player accidentally hit the Pakistani player with a hockey, injuring him. Obviously its believed it wasn't an accident, but it never resulted in anything serious.

Star is misreporting since the video they are showing is of a 2009 match between the Jr teams of Pak and India where they fought.

Well, unfortunate, but nothing new. Tempers rise in tense situations in hockey, especially when its India vs. Pakistan.

Cricket has by far become professional and gentlemanly , Hockey still arouses nationalistic fervor and passions.

We used to play rugby when at school and if a fight didn't take place every week - we would be shocked. Lets count ourselves lucky our nations aren't rugby giants!! Can you imagine at the end of the game they wouldn't be swapping shirts - they would be giving teeth back to each other!

Rugby is one of the most exhilarating sports , loved it when I played it . Has all elements of speed , strength , stamina and the huddle Got my glasses cracked and buttons torn more than a dozen times , in high school

You played rugby with your glasses on?? You mad man! I was the only asian in my school year and was a big lad. Against other schools i was a target - not once did i get kicked in - apart from the day i ripped my top. Then i got kicked in proper............. by my dear mother..

Never got to play hockey - always thought it was a bit girly until now!

Isn't hockey normally associated with such fights? But some reports seem to indicate it wasnt as big an issue as a lot of media channels are trying to make it seem.

learnt my lesson after a couple of times when the opposition jumped on me I was short , but sturdy and fast as hell

Football and Rugby were my preferred team sports. Hockey wasn't that popular.
