KARACHI: An immigration officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been suspended over an incident of alleged harassment at the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

The incident took place when an FIA immigration officer reportedly harassed a young woman arriving from Bahrain to Karachi Monday night, with the security agency's director for Sindh, Amir Farooqi, taking notice of it Tuesday morning.

The alleged harassment incident took place when, according to the woman, the FIA officer in question reportedly asked her for her number and mithai, or sweetmeat, officials said.

When onlookers filming the suspect asked him questions, he was unable to respond.

On the other hand, the FIA officer said he had asked the woman for her number to " include it in the list," while he asked her for mithai as a joke.

The FIA's director for Sindh, Farooqi, suspended the immigration officer, reported him to the zonal office, and initiated departmental action against him.

@Imran Khan @AgNoStiC MuSliM here be an advocate for vani / sawara, thought you people were outlawing such practices
edit:
oops my mistake there are 2 of them here
You perceived it as per your mindset. Does not mean your point of view is correct.
Any honourable person indulging in such shameful act would think thrice about their own daughter(s) and sister(s) prior to commiting such an act. So it boils down to the fact, such people only see their daughter(s) and sister(s) worthy of respect while the rest are there to practise their wild fantasies on.

What is the big deal..

Should have pursued the number in a straightforward manner rather than using such tactics...

Mithai thing is a code word for rishwat which happens everywhere..

Pretty sure the boss that fired him is used to doing the same thing he fired this son for.

Sir there is not much detail in this article.
When she arrived at the immigration counter, the officer took her documents and gave her a form to fill up.
There was a blank for cell no. and she called her father who told her to write down his number. But this official kept bugging her for her personal number. And by this time she was half way through the form, the official took it back and said he will fill the rest and asked for Mithai on the pretext that everyone brings them something.
He made her feel uneasy. So she called her uncle who was outside airport and told him what was happening. In the meanwhile, the officer told her to switch off her phone. She told her uncle that she is scared. But her uncle tried to calm her down and told her she was safe.
Then her uncle protested and demanded the said officer be produced otherwise they won`t leave the premises. Next you can see what happened in the video.

Iski sister ka number aur mithai mangni chahiye thi on cam.
A much better way to say this would have been , "how would the FIA officer feel if someone had asked his sister or daughter or mother the same question?"

While it may not have been your intent, your comment makes it appear like you want to fix one wrong by calling for the same thing to be done to someone else, which is not acceptable.

Maybe that he is on duty, in uniform? Leveraging his "authority" to harass that woman? And asking for a bribe to boot?
Whenever one is travelling, he/she is naturally a bit nervous due to the unforeseen dangers or difficulties that may be lying ahead. But when a person in uniform starts puzzling you and won`t budge, it gives a blow to the confidence and one starts to feel insecure. This is what this teenager went through and the drama ensued.

He is quite young and upon seeing young lady he tried his luck with a jokingly manner but he f@cked up his job.

He should have suspend for few months that would be enough.
