. . .
sorry guys to say but... the only reason why we are opting for Chinese AEW is because we want to raise the numbers of AEW to 10... 4 Erieye and 6 ZDK-03... if we had the money... we would have gone for all ERIEYE all they wayyy!

. . . . .
To be onest the JK-2000 looks beast and the one we are getting does not look that bad either. What if we learned the best from Erieye systems and integrated it into the Chinese platform

.
You may be right, but these platform will give PAF lot of opportunity to learn....
Not to mention the possibility of Transfer of Technology. ZDK-03 + some ToT is a better deal than the Saab ERIEYE on its own, despite the fact that Saab's system is more advanced and involves less risk.

In any case, the more AEW&Cs the better. For its size, if the PAF could actually somehow build up a fleet of 8-10 AEW&C (couple hi-end, others med-tech), it will be that much more intimidating. This and Aerial Refueling, in my opinion, are essential we we wish to a develop a capable defensive capability in the next decade.

I can't wait to the new systems to arrive, this forum will go berserk. Got another few months of waiting, at least, as the first of the ERIEYEs, F-16 Block 52s and IL-78s are all slated to arrive next year (2010).

Wasn't Erieye be in Pakistan in October 09 and F-16M in 2010?:undecided:

I think the world of the IL76 family of ships - a very durable and capable ship, could do with several redign upgrades, particularly with engines.

As a AWAC platform? I don't know, It's a huge ship and I don't see any refuleing probe.

what opportunity is their for us to learn? Other then handling of TOT?
Erieye even without TOT is still much better deal then ZDK-03 with TOT.. but (MONEY) is a big factor! and unfortunately PAF has to look towards cheaper alternatives.. But i wonder with 2-3 billion dollars in pocket and requirement for 10 AEWCS would the Swedes offered us TOT.
