RIYADH — The Color Run in the Riyadh Season, dubbed “The Happiest 5k on the Planet” witnessed the highest participation in the Middle East with thousands bursting onto the streets of Riyadh on Saturday.

Organized in line with the General Entertainment Authority’s efforts to attract top entertainment offerings to Saudi Arabia, The Color Run — now the largest running series in the world, made a vibrant return to the Kingdom's capital.

The Riyadh event follows the Kingdom’s extremely popular inaugural Color Run which took place in Al-Khobar in March and saw over 10,000 people run and walk their way along the 5k course.

The event, held in the Riyadh Boulevard Zone, is the second run in the Kingdom with record figures of 20,000 participants in Riyadh. This is double the attendance in Al-Khobar.

To date, The Color Run has been hosted in more than 40 countries with over seven million runners worldwide participating in the event.

The event is un-timed and sees thousands of participants covered from head to toe in an array of different colors throughout the 5k course before collecting their medals at the finish line.

The only rule is that those taking part must cross the finish line covered in color and have a fun time while doing it!

The non-competitive run is not only an opportunity to create picture-perfect memories (and Instagram posts!), but serves as a celebration of health, happiness and individuality.

The GEA — a core pillar under the Saudi government, is supporting the event as part of it continued efforts to enrich the lifestyle of residents as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals and in line with the nation’s Quality of Life Program 2020.

Kristen Biegler, spokesperson for The Color Run had earlier said, “Since its inception in 2012, The Color Run has had become a global phenomenon, and we are very excited to be returning to Saudi Arabia. The response in Khobar was truly amazing and we are extremely excited to bring The Happiest 5k on the Planet to Riyadh. Our No. 1 rule is that everyone has fun — it is up to you whether you run, jog, walk or even skip your way to the finish line."

Females entering concerts and stadiums alongside men, 100's of Western and Eastern singers giving sold-out concerts, males and females mixing in public, women on the roads (higher percentage of mortal road traffic accidents just a question of time, women entering all fields in the society (even the military), travel restrictions removed (guardianship laws de facto removed), feminism rampant, 1000's of women no longer wearing even an abaya in public let alone headscarf etc. MBS, Turkish Al-Sheikh and the rest might have gone a bit too far in their reforms.

Yet people still think this is the Saudi Arabia of the 1990's, 2000's (Sahwa period) and early 2010's.

I miss the Mutaween.

Saudi doing Holi these days?

What the hell is holi? No, it is some color run (whatever that is, probably something Western). See the posted article.

20.000 took part.

Apparently a lot of Pakistani and Indian expats joined that run in Riyadh as well. Point is things are changing. Feminism, liberalism etc. is winning and gaining ground everywhere. No turning back now. Frightening to think how quickly things are changing nowadays.

Conservatives like me, are sadly a dying breed. Better accept the direction the world is moving towards before the disappointment gets too big.

modi will be joining in too as best friend of the British stooge wahabie brothers

Imran Khan the half Indian will be joining him and they will both be dancing in the streets of Riyadh. Later they will join a gay parade in Istanbul alongside Erdogan.

I don't like it, this is not good. The white man labels this as progressive, mutawa'een should not have been banned.

They have not been removed but basically rendered irrelevant as they have zero jurisdiction and can only give advice to people. If laws are broken, it is the job of the police authority.

**** all that holi shit, since when are we Indians

Don't know what that is but this is some color run I think. Think I recall seeing something alike in Europe once. In the good old days they used to raid Western compounds and other fun. Smashing music instruments etc.

BTW this is a bit of a troll thread, as KSA remains a conservative country and most of the changes have been positive, but we need to keep some of the ultraliberal jerks (women in particular) in check. Some locals are too obsessed what the West thinks about them and want to imitate them, including all the bad stuff. They are probably also tired of large parts of the world thinking KSA is Afghanistan, Somalia etc. when that was never the case even remotely. So you have extreme reactions the other way. That lot used to keep it behind doors and in private, now they have been given more space to do it in public and they are testing the limits. See the France24 report. We need to smash them and put them in their place! May the full power of the Mutaween be restored!

Even executions are no longer always carried out by sword. Now firing squads are used as well. Sad times.:(

And me hoping that the Rotten Western ideology... at least not openly in public... will not enter KSA in my lifetime...
What's next... now that they gave up a Hand?... When will they give up that arm? and what will it looks like... a Rave party in outskirt of Medina or/Mecca?

The other Muslim countries that were poisoned by that cancer... and regretting it... are right now trying to remove it... but KSA is letting out the cancerous flood...

Can't they see how their brothers/sisters are fighting that degeneracy in their countries... OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!

A close Bangladeshi friend of mine teaches English to adults at a private institute in Wash DC. There's a lot of Saudi girls there learning English and they get paid by the Saudi government to study in the US on student visas. The girls dress a lot more liberal, go to clubs, date, and ignore the Saudi men who are in their classes.

It entered at the same time as it entered the entire Muslim world more or less. It was just less prevalent.

Have in mind that Saudi Arabians, unlike the vast majority of Muslims, are very well well-off economically, very connected to the remaining world (West mainly), 100.000's having studied in the West, access to technology, internet etc. since ages ago. All this will have an impact. That coupled with KSA being governed with more strict and conservative rules than 90%+ of all Muslim countries, will result in a rise of liberalism, feminism etc.

I don't really see how other Muslims are going in the opposite direction? Even very conservative countries like Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen etc. are moving in the same direction.

BTW this is quite a troll thread from my part and relates to the previous discussions me @CamelGuy and a few other users used to have about feminism, liberalism, self-hating Arabs etc. KSA remains a conservative country and those entertainment events are not going to change it and actually I support the removal of many of those old stupid laws originating from the Sahwa era. I don't think that MbS is as stupid as to commit the same mistakes that the Shah did who was much more extreme in his reforms and did it 40-50+ years ago when the world was different and much less interconnected.

Don't believe everything everyone tells but of course they are going to explore the local culture. Not exactly strange. it is no different with Pakistanis and other Muslims.

Those type of people want another experience so of course they are not going to surround themselves with Saudi Arabian males 24/7 in the US. Might as well stay back in KSA if that was the purpose.

BTW, Saudi Arabian women rarely marry non-Saudi Arabians and if they do, they tend to marry other Arabs and Muslims. You have rare cases of Western converts marrying Saudi Arabian women (very sought after in those circles) or rare cases of Saudi Arabian women marrying Christian males/non-Muslim against the rules and traditions. That category is very rare.
