The best way to eradicate this repulsive crime is to:
1) Ban doctors from carrying sex determination kits such as ultrasound around with them. Only registered clinics should be allowed to possess such equipment for legitimate purposes.
2) Vehemently punish the doctors and unregistered clinics if they break the law.
3) Tag all pregnant women (mainly poor Hindus) who have had an ultrasound, and keep a register for monitoring purposes.
4) Poor Hindus in particular, being particularly prone to female infanticide, should be monitored closely:
- The large dowries prescribed by the Vedas means that a girl is seen as a burden. There is no doubt that this is one of the reasons why poorer Hindu families in particular are prone to female infanticide, as is alluded to in the report.
The Hindu Holy Scriptures sanction female infanticide and the Hindu scholars will have to address this head on:
Atharva Veda.6.2.3 : " Let a female child be born somewhere else; here, let a male child be born."
-- [ Ath.Ved.VI.2.3 ] [ cf. Peri ]
Taittirya Samhita VI.5.10.3 : " Hence they [ Aryans ] reject a female child when born, and take up a male."
-- [ Taitt.Samh.VI.5.10.3 ] [ Muir I 26 ]
