Haqqani people wont fight against you, they would simply provide stretagic depth to TTP in khost, paktiya, paktika etc. Pak army cant go into those afghan provinces. If you do air strikes on khost and paktiya, you provoke anger in all afghans irrespective of ethnicity. What do you suggest, how pak army can get rid of haqqani militants?

Man it's getting serious, definitely peace talks can never move forward with the such shameful acts going on in parallel, but before switching towards any further decision we must seek for some answers, such as why we are observing such an intense wave of terrorist activities since the negotiations have started for possible peace deals, cease fire in future ? If TTP is not only terrorist group involved in FATA or KP, than why the current government is wasting time in negotiations with TTP in the first place ? Plus are we ready to observe a backlash from TTP in urban cities, most importantly Karachi, because there are reports coming in that TTP has quite a strong foothold in Karachi due to its port plus other factors ? In case of full scale military operation, does the civilian government has the capacity, capability to replace military with its civilian authorities while maintaining the status quo ?? TTP looks pretty clear in their evil objectives, why our government is looking so much confused, why so many divisions, so many differences ?

we all know the TTP/Taliban is just a bunch of different groups, if the main bulk of the Taliban are commited to peace then we should grasp it.

Honestly TTP do not seem desperate for peace to me, they are buying time. Members here are saying that TTP begged for talks after air strikes while the fact is they offered you peace talks immediately after killing 24 jawans. If they were that desperatd and serious in talks, they wouldnt have killed 22 captive FC jawans.

Look I agree, these guys need to be wiped out, no state can accept groups who not only take the law into their own hands but destabalise you to such a extent..

The killings of our forces should alone mean war...

This war however we as a state and people's cant afford, people dont understand how brutal it could be. The best plan would be to divide the Taliban and identofy who your enemy really whilst bring them into the open

@hussain0216: Obviously, it is not that each and every person living in NW belongs to TTP (alias JI/JUI). A number of NW inhabitants are against but cant confront with these thugs. Military knows which areas to hit and which ones to spare. Action will only be taken against those who are involved in anti-state activities. If and when the operation was launched, the whole of the NW will not be carpet bombarded but only the enemy strongholds. My understanding is, military has already done its homework, hence General Kiyani's briefing to the whole parties conference. There will be a loss of life, no doubt, but than to gain something, you have to lose something. Matters have come to a point where a comprehensive action (both military and political) is a necessity.

We like it or not, Pakistan has to fight this war, if not today, tomorrow, if not tomorrow, another day, but we cant escape from it. Sooner we understand this, better for us.

Running to Afghanistan is difficult as the Winter has blocked many of the peaks. Even if some of them run away, thats fine as long as we hold the territory. We need to ensure that the TTP don't hold any territory, we destroy their home to rob them of the advantage to plan and carry out attacks. Do you have any alternative plans?
