QUETTA - Frontier Constabulary (FC) Inspector General Maj-Gen Obaidullah Khattak has said that a significant decline has occurred in terrorist and criminal incidents after delegation of powers to FC under Anti-Terrorism Law.

He said this in a two-day-long commandants’ conference of FC Balochistan that held at the FC Headquarters here on Wednesday. Besides, professional issues and quality of training of jawans, the security of borders and law and order of the province was reviewed in the conference and important decisions were taken.

Stressing the need for training of jawans, the FC IG said they should be imparted latest and productive training so that they could face the challenges of the changing conditions effectively.

He reiterated that the Balochistan FC would utilise all available resources and face any challenge to ensure law and order in the province.

During the conference, the regional situation was also thoroughly reviewed and all commandants were directed to beef up checking and security at the border and make all-out efforts for the improvement of law and order situation in the province.

The FC IG praised the outstanding performance of all officers and jawans of Gazaband Scouts, saying he was proud of their performance.

He directed the commandants to seek cooperation of people from all walks of life to keep peace in Quetta.*

While the IG attributes the perceived decline in terrorism in B'Stan to relegation of powers to FC - perhaps the absence of political rivalry has more to do with this than anything else.

The higher ups need to know this.

Security situation has improved but security concerns are still there. Every other day there is a peace volunteer killed and people shot at openly by BLA terrorists on motor bikes.

After the recent target operations in past 2 months (December/January) where over a hundred terrorists were killed and similar number of them arrested, this isn't a surprise to come.

Good work being done. With more effort the figures could drop below half.

Pakistan’s most persecuted minority, the Hazaras of Quetta have exposed the ugly face of country’s so-called democratic dispensation. As against the perception created by media about Army’s negative impression of Balochistan, Hazaras have demanded once again that in order to save them from extinction, Quetta should be taken over by the Army. This can be the worst form of no-confidence against civilian leadership so glorified by self-serving politicos, who, instead of demanding action against the mass killers, the LeJ, only issue stereotyped condemnation. And the Hazaras of Quetta are not alone in their contempt for Pakistan’s democratic set-up. The failed democracy has dealt a severe blow to the confidence of common man even in rest of the country. Pakistanis have started to hate the system of governance imposed on them through a dubious exercise of polls and ballots in 2008 whose results were engineered courtesy NRO. The injury inflicted by the sham democracy is of a permanent nature. The people have lost all their hope in the democratic system practiced in their country and are looking towards to military, a savior of all times. Read more at:

Has the esteemed FC IG made any comments after the bomb blast yesterday that killed 84 and injured 200? If this is called "decline in terrorism", we don't need any more of it.

BLA terrorism had been reduced which is good sign but terrorism against Hazara community is out of control & is question mark to security authorities.
