FBI arrests two for being allegedly on ISI payroll

Let's focus on the word "unregistered", so has his visa expired or something?

.
If propagating someone's stance in world is crime than their are many in Pakistan too.
The allegation isn't just that the accused didn't register as agents BUT that they tried to "falsify, conceal, and cover up material facts they had a duty to disclose".

In Washington it may not be the crime itself that condemns but the cover-up. A cover-up demonstrates that the accused knew or suspected that their actions were of criminal rather than innocent intent.

Quite Idiotic Arrest Really!!

I have met with Ghulam Nabi Fai in early 90's in DC. He is a promoter of Kashmiri cause in the USA. So what if he is getting funds on the side from the ISI? He is not working against the national security of the USA.

The 'real' ISI spies in the USA are working in every field ranging from politics to classified industrial set-ups! US does not have the resources to either track or nab them all and so they go for such petty stunts to pacify internal politics of pressure.

And the benifit you get from your "real spies"?

While I don't agree with his use of using ISI money for Kashmiri causes in the US (if that is true that is), I doubt he was an ISI agent.

I am struggling to comprehend what your post has to do with the context of the thread.

FBI has arrested a man whom they believe is on ISI payroll, and you have posted pictures of small groups of people around the world protesting against Indian Government.

Now I could post some more pictures to further divert the thread, but that's not my thing.

He thinks that the FBI arrested the above said dude because the Indians were unhappy with him as he was supporting Kashmiri Muslims and they made the FBI arrest him on the pretext he is an ISI agent. :D

You are a genius. You explained his post beautifully :drag:

I think the real charge on him that he knew the source of finance (ISI) for his organization and he tried to hide it. If that could not prove he would not found guilty. Am I right Solomon2?

Lets assume he is right. That means America is on India's side on the Kashmir issue, which means pretty much everyone except Pakistan and small groups of people around the world holding banners are on India's side. Basically, this means that the "Kashmir issue" is a lost cause and Pakistan and the small groups of people around the world are just wasting their time and resources.

very simple...it is that there are a lot of voices that aim to project a pro-Kashmir and oftentimes what you would obviously perceive as ''anti-indian'' (occupation) voice.

ISI has no need to have such people on actual payroll. I believe most of them operate as independents, operating quite naturally.

Interestingly enough, these VERY SAME organizations may even be getting (directly or indirectly) U.S. -based funding!

Now if this below source is to be believed, then:

The affidavit alleges that, although the KAC held itself out to be a Kashmiri organization run by Kashmiris and financed by Americans, the KAC is one of three “Kashmir Centers” that are actually run by elements of the Pakistani government, including Pakistan’s military intelligence service, the Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISI). The two other Kashmir Centers are in London, England, and Brussels, Belgium.

From same source, look at this:

(Two Charged with Conspiring to Act as Unregistered Agents of Pakistani Government)

Apparently this Executive Director of the Kashmiri Center has funneled $5 million over the past 20 years to prominent legislators to highlight the Kashmir freedom cause (which he is within his right to do).

So -- How come U.S. authorities didnt know about this for 20 years? I think it's just politically motivated, and the timing was very intentional and symbolic. (Payback for Raymond Davis)

this also comes at a time when some in the U.S. blame (sans evidence) ''official elements'' in Pakistan for the yet-to-be-solved death of Saleem Shehzard. Obviously the world theatre is witness to some major ''complexities'' and even some head-on confrontrations between both US and Pakistan --the media is of course having a field day, as are the analysts.

for reasons stated earlier

well it should be your thing to wait for facts before resorting to the trained indian reaction of getting excited over such allegations.

p.s. nobody is denying that that there are Foreign Acts in place which discourage and disallow '''non-registered'' 'agents'

however i highly doubt that either of these men had anything to do with ISI. It isn't like their bank statements will have a wire transfer from ''ISI Services''.......even if the ISI were funneling funds to them, it would be difficult to prove unless they had some coded transcripts and authentic wire-tapped phone call records.....financially it would be hard to trace the moneys to ISI (they'd probably have the common sense to use off-shore accounts) so I wonder what kind of flimsy ''evidence'' they will come up with to proove these 'well-timed' charges.

.
I really don't understand why he has been arrested.

But hey, what the hell, who cares?

That's one Pakistani lobbyist for the so-called 'Kashmir cause' less to worry about.

It's great news anyways.

Who cares even if he was arrested for pissing in his own pants.

.
read the title of the thread....it says ''alleged'' ISI agent. By the way, even if he was ''working for the ISI'' (which I dont think we really need, since there are other pro-Kashmir and perhaps anti-indian occupation Kashmiri types existing in the US who are quite vocal) --- other countries do it all the time. I'm sure Mossad has people over at AIPAC who are in direct contact; i'm sure there are western intelligence agencies cooperating in anti-Iranian government / so-called ''Iran freedom/liberation'' movements

Possibly...but seems your spy agency and your govt's PR arm is leaving trails all over the place....
Or might just be that the US Govt. is giving "special attention" to Pakistanis....as can be seen on airplanes, customs etc etc....

Seems now even the educated and naturalized citizens are under the scanner...

this may just be (yet another) way to try to put pressure (and spotlight) on ISI. I don't think it's a very succesful strategy to do so. But as I said, ISI has no need to send reps or have such people on payroll. They exist regardless. We have plenty of other means to express and project our own views and aspirations for the disuputed Kashmir region..

Please do share.....
I would like to know how else does Pakistan influence American lawmakers in the US through legal means if not through organizations such as KAC in case of Pakistan or AIPAC in case of Israel/Jewish Americans.

perhaps the indian missions are scared and think that the Kashmiri freedom protestors (who have been visible in cities in New York, Washington DC, and even other parts of the world) are ALL on ISI payrolls as well

And why would that scare us? We have a nuclear armed country at our doorstep and you expect us to be worried about some useless Kashmiris whining to deaf ears in NYC?

.
well it should be your thing to wait for facts before resorting to the trained indian reaction of getting excited over such allegations.

Perhaps you should wait too before declaring him an angel.

From a purely Indian perspective, these arrests are not that significant because Pakistan is already very weak in the Kashmir game. There's nothing much to gain. I guess they knew it for some time now and were waiting for the "right moment".

.
Apparently $4 Million has been channeled through this organization to the US lawmakers to "influence" them.......

Thats a paltry figure even for a mayor's campaign in NYC or Chicago....I can now see why Pakistan has so little influence in the US.....

Loosen the purse I tell you....LOL!
