What's love jihad? I mean what do people, who use the term, mean by it?

Salaam brother, "Love jihad" was a phrase originally coined by the Catholic church in the Southern Indian state of Kerala more than ten years ago. The Church didn't like Christian women in Kerala to be in love match-up with Muslim men and therefore to prevent more such matches it built up a conspiracy theory that Muslim men were in a deep conspiracy ( with foreign finance support and all ) to wage non-violent jihad against Christians by marrying Christian women and then converting them to Islam.

This theory and opposition of the Church was picked up by Hindutvadi elements who let alone not tolerate marriages or love match-ups within the different castes among Hindus, were vehemently and many times violently against Hindu women being in relationships with Muslim men. Read these articles from the website of one such group Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. Sometimes these groups keep such such women in their custody and "counsel" them ( physically and psychologically break them ) until they see the path of "dharma".

First of all the ancient Hindutvadi manual Manusmriti declares a woman to be possession of the father, the brother, the husband and then the son, to have no freedom of her own. This alone creates difficulty if a woman wants to be with a certain man even if he is of the same caste. Think if he is of another caste, a lower caste or heavens forbid, another religion, especially a Muslim. Hence there are honor killings in India existing 73 years after the country became so-called Independent.

All this is in context of "Love jihad".
