I think it would be interesting to see how exactly do they define this law. Would this prevent hindu girls from converting to Islam? Or would it be marriage between Muslim man and a hindu woman? Would the opposite be allowed? What about a hindu boy converting to Islam to marry a Muslim girl?

I wonder what the implications would be, both domestic and global, if they simply ban religious conversion all together. Especially given how India is hoping to move closer to the West now.

It's pretty easy actually. They will make a law that will require police verification and District Magistrate approval before any marriage. The law itself will not be religion specific, but the implementation of the law will be religion specific.

There was thread two days ago ( and got deleted ) about a Muslim youth in Delhi who had eloped with a Hindu girl. He had changed his name to be a Hindu one. Why ? He was a vegetable seller and said later that if he hadn't changed his name he wouldn't have gotten a house in that neighborhood. What do you say about that ?

This law is a proposed one, not yet implemented.

Unfortunately in the last 15 or so years Indian Muslims to a large extent have become regressive. Burqas everywhere, Tablighi Jamaat attendances and generally a stifling atmosphere within the community. I suppose this is the reaction result of the Hindutva movement, especially the 1980s Ram Mandir Movement.

So there have been cases where relationships between Hindu boys and Muslim girls have been violently opposed by the girl's family.

India is demographically fucked. You aren't going anywhere. You guys are 200-250 million. It's simply not possible to either convert or wipe out such a huge number. And you'll keep growing from there because the larger the population the quicker it grows. By 2050, you're looking at 350 million Muslims.

But India's Muslim population is not under threat in the future. Give it 50 years. And you will form a hefty demographic in a few states to influence politics. Not the cow-belt but a few other states in the east and south.

Dont know about but muslim population in south india has stabilised just like hindu population.
The ratio of hindu to muslim population will remain the same even in future.
Another thing is muslims in south india also have only 2 children on average just like hindus...
And you are assuming that all present day muslims and their sons and grandsons will remain muslims even after 50 years...many indian muslims have started following things like vastu shastra.
In 50 years of time they will become more hinduised.

The campaign is Bahu lao beti bachao. The thing is interfaith marriage is a fringe for both muslims and Hindus. Even among Sikhs who has the highest interfaith marriage is less than 4.

Sanghis are very innovative coining new words by adding Jihad with it. Aside from inventing various remedies made by cow urine and cow dung, it is their one of the greatest achievement. It may not be far for them to invent the term 'existence Jihad' for the continued presence of Muslims on Indian soil. Muslim presence in India is intolerable to them.

These marriages are deserters and change of religion invariably comes in. There is a big difference in how Hindus and Muslims live. Very few marriages of Hindu girls and Muslim boy are happy. A Muslim girl marrying a Hindu boy is fine. She will get a lot more respect and dignity than she get by marrying a Muslim.

I hope that very stringent laws shall be made. Those love Jhihadis should piss in their pant for attempting love Jhihadis.
