What's new

Families don't have interest to take dead terrorist bodies.

What I find surprising is that they were missing for months and their parents did nothing? It shows the level which our society had gone to.

A shout out to parents: Spend time and talk with your children, especially your sons.

This is not only heavy on the families, but on the nation as well.

Ouch!

There has now been an announcement by BD police to mention immediately if family members (esp male youths) go absent abnormally out of the blue. A step in the right direction, but still should have been done before by the parents themselves like you say. Now hopefully people understand the seriousness of the situation.

.
These people were dead morally long time before the BD SWAT made them so physically.

They can be buried in some unmarked grave or be cremated with no attention given.

The higher power can deal with them better than we ever can.

I stand by these parents...and cannot imagine what is going on in their head. What torture they will feel when they see childhood pictures and remember old memories.

Its like that Beatles song "Guitar gently weeps"

"I don't know hooooow... someone controlled you....they bought and sooooold you"

...

"I dont know hoooooow you were diverted..... you were perverted too...."

"I don't know hooooow you were inverted...no one alerted you"

:(
That song, <3 :/

Not surprised.

It will be seen and being seen as a huge disgrace to the family and the parents. In BD failure of the children is also seen as failure of the parents. The father of another attacker also apologized to the nation and said he has failed as a father.
Bangladeshi society and nation doesn't show mercy towards attacks on its existence. And it is being seen as such. With time the society and people's hurt may come to alleviate, few may forgive them but they will never forget what these terrorists did.

I think authority should quietly arrange a quick burial not making too much steer. These terrorists are bad omen.
Agreed. These families future generations will go through agony of hatred because of them

What about daughters? :p equal attention to everyone I think. One of the attackers was a woman in Kuwait. Kuwait faced this same situation at the airport the day after this happened. They were caught before they could do anything though so thank god. But yeah women are equally brainwashed into this. I know many women who left their husbands, children to be sex slaves of jihadist in Syria. From Europe , Arab and Asian countries. Such scums in name of women... :(

. . .
This is a delicate matter because atleast for some people they were their children. I understand the hatred you have for these acts. I do too. But feeding he, to dogs... That's not the way civilized world rolls

If they care so much for their children, do they think their child deserves to go and blow up other people's children?

Terrorists shouldn't complain about what happens to their bodies after they commit suicide, let them be eaten by dogs, buried in pig skin, who cares.

Ofc not. The parents are ashamed and humiliated and have asked for forgiveness. What they did shouldn't be blamed on the parents though. But yes if no one is willing to receive their bodies then use it for medical research... Like the skeletons and burn away the decomposing flesh.

A parent will grieve for his child regardless of what the child is or has done.

A child is a part of you that is separate and leading an independent existence.

Morals and ethics and right or wrong and such do not come into this biological equation.

One part of me (as a parent) cringes at the thought of what the parents are going through. Both of the murdered as well as of the murderers. The obvious reaction being to ask oneself "what if" .....

Another part of me wonders whether there is something wrong with the parents itself of those who become terrorists. Some shortcoming in their parenting while the child was growing up (lets face it - most of the murderers were kids themselves). Do they shoulder some of the blame?

The dad of the gay club shooter for instance to me at least came across as uber loony tunes himself. One step away (if at all) from being a fundo.

Well the parents (as far I've heard) are remorseful and totally surprised their kids could do such a heinous thing.

Thats a major difference compared to say the boston bombers....who if im not mistaken had a mom that was defiant and said everything was a conspiracy regarding her son etc etc...that he was set up and murdered by the US and that the US is a great satan etc etc (ie a a lot of similar thought process to her sons)

From the evidence on this so far , these kids were on facebook, came from wealthy or middle class backgrounds, were not indoctrinated in some conventional long term way...and had plenty to live for....if all seems as is, I can't see the parents being too terribly in fault for that (prima facie). I guess we will have to see if anything deeper w.r.t their families can be unearthed over time if it exists...but right now its too early. Theres a terrorist thats being interrogated and another attack that ongoing right now sadly.

I'm just trying to think aloud from a parent's perspective as to what makes a terrorist. Its increasingly common, even here in India, for radicalized youth to be educated, middle class, very "ordinary." Very unlike the typical picture we have in our mind of shalwar, short flappy pyjamas, big beard, and cap.

And dont get me started on Facebook man. Per me, its the Devil's spawn.

Heh, why do you think I quit facebook years and years ago. Utter vile....but ppl love it these days for some reason.

Have you watched the movie 4 lions

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1341167/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

It gives a pretty interesting perspective on what you are talking about here with some humour to boot.

The way I see it is that the poor traditional madrassa crowd have to focus on making a living. They had hard lives and upbringing....probably saw and experienced violence at home or around them in various ways. That makes them somewhat averse to indulging in it as long as they have hope for something and some modicum of dignity. They also have kids quite early (or younger siblings to take care of) so they got to work hard to put food on the table early on....simply no time to think about religion beyond the basic concept of god, helping the fellow man, prayers etc.

On the other end we see the more affluent sort who have had a relatively cushy life, are more "integrated" with western culture and most just continue along this path. But the odd few enter a hollow psychological state....either they want to do something "fun" or something really ticks them off deep down....or a combination of both....and because of their background no one pays attention to them (they are just joking, he would never do that, hes just messing around...oh look hes finding religion in a new way etc etc).

I mean one of the madrid train bombers by all accounts had a hot spanish girlfriend...was quite promiscuous in general, quite westernised in tastes and yet he still did what he did....and that too this was before ISIS even started (he was old school AQ).

Anyway thats my theory. Of course some poor stereotypical people become cannon fodder...and many of the elite people turn out just fine. But this trend of insta-radicalised elite youth is something the world has to take very seriously in this day and age of the internet and social media. Developing world as well should not ignore it by saying oh only 1% of the population has internet etc... (that 1% is who the whackos are coming from these days mostly!)

Your analysis is pretty bang on. It (to my mind) is no coincidence that a large proportion of the guys who go off the deep end in terms of religious radicalization, in their earlier lives just before they went off the reservation were actually doing (a lot of) everything that was taboo per their scriptures.

Now I am no newcomer to having flirted with the dark side in my younger days. Days when you question where your life is going or wtf you are doing (lucid moments of reflection of course being few and far in between and really sporadic).

My theory is that a lot of these affluent bombers are driven by guilt. And fear. Of the unknown. Of the final reckoning. Of the Judgement Day. And there are those who are ever ready to recognize such fertile canvases of fear and insecurity and gnawing guilt and work on it stroke by stroke to paint an evil picture of divine retribution and redemption. Of projection of all that is bad on all who are not part of the inner circle.

And play on the need of the playboys to sprout beards and magically atone for years of debauchery (hot Spanish chiquitas included) and get passage into the inner circle and the magical fruits within by one final cleansing moment of atoning violence.

My bad. Their parents actually did report them missing to the police.

Now here's the scary part.
