FACT-CHECKING: [AMRAAM] Missile shown by Indian generals was sold to Taiwan

If a missile was used why would the serial number and details be the only part that is still intact?

Can anyone familiar clarify, isn't it designed so the entire missile is blown apart?

Also I thought this missile was compatible with the jf-17 anyway?

Part of a missile India claims was launched a PAF F-16. SCEREN GRAB

KARACHI: As New Delhi presented what it claimed was ‘incontrovertible proof’ that Pakistan used its F-16 fighter jets in Wednesday’s air action, a fact-checking exercise by The Express Tribune revealed that the missile remains the Indian military found in fact belonged to a missile sold by the US to Taiwan.

India’s top military brass on Thursday displayed the remains of an American-made missile as ‘absolute proof’ that the Pakistan Air Force used F-16s in aerial operations conducted the day before. Claiming that the missile could only have been launched by an F-16, the Indian generals tried to strengthen their claims that the Indian Air Force also shot down a PAF F-16 while losing a MiG-21.

Imran Khan wins praise over captured pilot’s release

The wreckage displayed by the Indian generals identified the missile as an AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM. A crucial detail, however, appears to have been overlooked by the Indian military in their attempt to provide evidence.

Markings on the wreckage also identified the contract serial number of the missile as FA8675-05-C-0070. A Google search The Express Tribune ran using the keyword ‘AMRAAM’ along with the serial number in question returned links to a US Department of Defense (DoD) document titled “Report to Congress on Department Of Defense Sales of Significant Military Equipment to Foreign Entities Fiscal Year 2009”.

The report revealed that contract number FA867505C0070 corresponded to a batch of AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM missiles supplied to Taiwan in a Foreign Military Sale worth $2.38 million.

It should be noted that Pakistan does not recognise Taiwan as a separate entity from the People’s Republic of China and as such, does not have any diplomatic or consular relations with Taiwan.

How the wreckage of a missile sold to Taiwan ended up in the hands of an Indian military air vice marshal is something only New Delhi can explain.

A version of the report can be found on the official website of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. It can be accessed via the following link:

Check pages number 32. It is there

Jf 17 has a indengeous data link. Jf 17 uses chinese settalites and compatabilities so that they cant be tracked or disabled by united states.

Also the missile could have been from an excercise where taiwanese f-16 had taken part. Clearly missile is the property of taiwan air force china

So if it was American made, then the US should have relevant telemetry data and export information?

A spelling mistake is less of a blunder than your claim on downing an F16.

Quote from report:
"The report revealed that contract number FA867505C0070 corresponded to a batch of AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM missiles supplied to Taiwan in a Foreign Military Sale worth $2.38 million."

That's a good question.

This is what i found so far.

"The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the United Kingdom of up to two hundred (200) AIM-120D Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) for an estimated cost of $650 million."

Source: https://www.dsca.mil/major-arms-sal...-advanced-medium-range-air-air-missile-amraam

and based on the cost of 200 AIM-120Ds... the cost of 1 Aim-120D is $3.25 Million as of 2018.

Meanwhile......

Mother ffuckker indain liarsss

At one website it says taiwan at other pakistan... Thats nuts if true

Now you should understand, how things are distored in internet world...You have to remember, when any army chief of any country is showing some evidence, it should be backed up by supporting things...Otherwise, F-16 is an american toy....They do not like to see their toys being stuck by any Russian jet....

I did, check post number 21, as per the same REPORT TO CONGRESS ON SALES OF SIGNIFICANT MILITARY EQUIPMENT TO FOREIGN ENTITIES FISCAL YEAR 2011, US sold RQ-4 Global Hawks to Pakistan, which we can safely say is completely wrong information. The excerpt s again taken from the similar 09 report by tribune. What I have posted is directly from DoD website.

O well f-16s were near loc and bvr aim 120c has more than 100 km . azad kashmir is just 50 km wide even at its widest location which is by the way very far from where action was taking place.

So f-16 was atleast more than 50 km away . might have fired one or two from well with in pakistan at intruders. Fell inside indian occupied kashmir .

That f16 did protect those jf 17 and mirages that striked india a few minutes before.

Aim 120C doesn't prove f-16 wqs downed it only proves F-16 were atleast 70 to 100 km away.

Bvrs are fired at very long distances hence called beyond visual range.

Anyways this doesnt prove f16s went inside india .

For indian intrusion jf 17 or mirages went in. And none got shot. As per our armed forces.
