FACT CHECK: Has China Really Claimed The Russian Port City Of Vladivostok?

The Russian-Chinese alliance is just smoke and mirrors ... do you seriously think the Chinese, the Finns, or the Germans would ever forgive Russia for snatching historical territories? That is why everybody is suspicious of them, as @Hassan Guy mentioned.

Regarding specifically China, Russia not only annexed the whole of Outer Manchuria but also instigated the separation of Mongolia, which had been part of the Qing Empire. The Chinese gov is just playing coy about this because they need Russia strategically rn ... but deep down I have no doubt someone as nationalistic as Xi Jinping would forget something as big as this. The fact is neither side trusts each other deep down.

Snatching territories? How about Russia snatching up Saint Petersburg from Sweden? How about America snatching up Alaska from Russia? How about the US snatching up Guam and Puerto Rico from Spain? Snatching territories was common in the past.

71% of Russians approve of China. Pew hasn't done recent studies in China, but according to their most recent one in 2012 Russia is still the most favorable country in China with 48% approval. The Chinese people surveyed seem to be very xenophobic and disapprove even more of... pretty much everyone else.

Xi Jinping is not a nationalist. There are no nationalists in power in China. Xi Jinping is very moderate actually, while Li Keqiang is liberal. Nobody is even 1/10th as nationalistic as Trump.

Proof: Trump wants to commercialize the COVID-19 vaccine if US discovers it first but Xi already promised it will be supplied at cost if China discovers it first.

Fascists/nationalists cannot arise from a socialist political system. They can only arise from a capitalist democratic one, where demogauges are rewarded. Hitler and Tojo were voted into power. Socialist systems favor moderates who are good at playing bureaucratic politics, like the people who make middle management at a company by clawing their way up.

You can't say that Xi is a "nationalist," he is very right wing, but not truly a proper nationalist. He is a rightist, a rightist red a la Gao, and Rao, and his contemporary Zhang Dejiang.

Russia and China are not allies and never will be for this very reason ... they are as I like to call "friends for benefits." Anyone who insists Russia and China somehow have a deep alliance needs a history lesson.
Did you fact check to see if the story is true. Even if someone from China said so do they represent the central govt? We have Chinese members here that talk alot of shit bit they don't represent the central government.

Paula, I'm sure if you were in Xi's shoes you would turn China into a Ukraine. But like I said everyone is entitled to their opinion and fortunately for China, their leaders don't take advice from PDF Chinese.
I used to believe Chinese were smart people until I came in this forum.

Most people don't even think about Russian Far East, it is totally irrelevant to the people and state. Those who do are typically paid false flags or extreme right wing Han racists.
I like to throw this at pinks every time they raise the topic.

Russia has done the Ukeraine thing to China before it was trendy, and it done it 3 times.

Paula, history is like this. If you're weak they destroy you. Licking their balls won't help. I know how Chinese people think. They think by eating enough western sausages they willbe liked. Sorry Paula, doesn't work in geopolitics. Look at the Japanese, a once proud nation turned into western eunuch.

https://eurasiantimes.com/fact-check-has-china-really-claimed-russian-port-city-of-vladivostok/

Historically, Vladivostok once used to be part of China’s Qing dynasty and was known as Haishenwai. It was annexed by the Russian empire in 1860 after China’s defeat by the British and the French in the Second Opium war.

Has China claimed the Russian port city of Vladivostok? Media outlets in India have lambasted China for its relentless expansionist policies especially after the India-China border clash at Galwan Valley.

The latest expansion claims are targetted at the Russian city of Vladivostok. Chinese diplomats, journalists and nationalists took to the internet to assert claims over the Russia city of Vladivostok formerly part of the Qing dynasty, a news extensively covered by Indian media outlets.

The backlash started after the Russian embassy took to Weibo to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the founding of the city, whose name means “ruler of the east” in Russian.

Reacting to the Russian embassy’s message, Shen Shiwei, a journalist working with the state-owned broadcaster CGTN, took to Twitter to remind the world that Vladivostok was once a part of China.

Zhang Heqing, a Chinese diplomat working in the embassy in Pakistan, also commented “isn’t this what in the past was our Haishenwai?”, referring to the Chinese name for the area before its annexation.

Indian media was quick to react to the Chinese claims and blasted Beijing for having an insatiable appetite for territory.

Wion TV stated that China dismisses treaties that don’t suit it and mentioned its territorial disputes with 20 countries including Russian, India, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Laos, Philippines, Malaysia Indonesia, South Korea, North Korea etc.

Times Now, one of the biggest Indian media outlets also published an article talking about Chinese expansionism in Russia, Nepal and Bhutan.

The Russian government offered no response to the comments made online by Chinese nationals and it will be interesting to see how Moscow reacts. While both countries currently enjoy friendly relations, they have clashed over territorial disputes in the past.

In 1969, erstwhile USSR and China almost went to war after Peoples Liberation Army troops ambushed Soviet border guards on Zhenbao Island.

Historically, Vladivostok once used to be part of China’s Qing dynasty and was known as Haishenwai. It was annexed by the Russian empire in 1860 after China’s defeat by the British and the French in the Second Opium war. Since then, it has been administered by Russia and is the capital of Primorsky Krai.
Yes. But China's border issue with Russia is water under the bridge.
Indian News Media has a US based motive and is out to create trouble bbetween China and Russia. But they failed to understand the relationship between Putin Russia and Xi China. :coffee:

It is not water under the bridge ... it is as Paul2 says the giant elephant in the room. When China and Russia no longer need each other, I can guarantee you they will turn against each other, just like in the 1960s.

ROC claimed alot of land on paper, but in reality they could not even keep Nanjing. They have no right to talk when they've already lost everything. 日记爱国,地图开疆。

btw did you actually do a satellite overlay to see if that land was actually prime or agricultural? because on a satellite overlay 90% of that land is desert, mountain or tundra.

Even if China takes back Outer Mongolia, I expect there will be a lot of trouble from the locals.
