Facepalm: Indian news anchor fired for calling China President 'Eleven Jinping'

In India we really dont have too many options. Either there are Sensationalist news channels or 1980's type pro government censored channels like DD.

You'd actually be surprised, DD news is a awesome for people who are tired of sensationalist news channels. There is waaaay too much shouting happening on places like times now, cnn ibn, ndtv etc.

Lol, that's funny, indeed.

Don't they have people briefing the news anchors how to pronounce foreign names?

No, but I'm curious to know if broadcasting offices anywhere else in the world have briefing sessions on pronunciation.

That said, the non-south Asian media really needs to get their pronunciation of South Asian names right.

I don't know about other countries, in Germany we have that at large news broadcasters. We also have large boards on the wall showing the anatomy of the oral region how to pronounce all the International Phonetic Alphabets (IPA).

But of course, the news anchors mostly get the relatively correct pronounciation, but it's not like a native speaker, nevertheless.

^^ what was that for man? Someone rub you the wrong way? Indians?

What happened was hilarious. No need to go about doling out kind words for no apparent reason.
