how immature the people and nation can be !

Rather banning p0rnsites is necessary and would be fruitful.

Could anyone tell me do you guys get international news channels in Pakistan like BBC CNN and other?
I personally think Pakistan has to come out of the cocoon it build around itself. The mass public has to be exposed to the outside world.thats the only way moving forward. The religion department should be separated from the country's administration. The day that happens Pakistan will be seeing its actual progress.
Um i was watching aljazeera 5 minutes ago(ptcl tv offers cnn, bbc, aljazeera,dw,rt,nhk, bloomberg and cctv) who told you we dont have access to western news outlets are you American?
Most cable operators offer bbc news in Pakistan

They are already banned and it made very little difference

How are other Muslim majority countries handling this issue?

Let's see what becomes of this potentially important initiative:

Blasphemy on social media: Muslim envoys unanimously decide to protect sanctity of Islam
SHAKEEL QARAR

A forum of ambassadors from Muslim countries on Friday unanimously decided to protect the sanctity and dignity of Islam and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and said the entire Muslim ummah is united for the same.

The meeting, announced earlier in the week by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, was held in the federal capital and was attended by ambassadors of Muslim countries with the interior minister in the chair.

The meeting had a one point agenda and a discussion was held on blasphemous content on social media. A course of action to effectively raise the voice of the Muslim world on the issue was also discussed.

During the meeting of the Muslim envoys, it was decided that a comprehensive strategy paper encompassing all legal and technical aspects would be circulated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs among the ambassadors of the Muslim countries.

The Ambassadors would then apprise their governments in order to develop a future plan of action.

A formal reference would also be sent to the secretary general of the Arab League and the secretary general of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC).

The matter would also be then followed up and brought to the attention of the United Nations, the participants of the meeting decided. Legal options would also be looked discussed to bring the matter to the courts of countries from where the content is generated.

“Islamic ummah must strive together to impress upon the international community to shed off Islamophobia,” said Nisar.

He added that no law permits showing disrespect or distortion of any religion.

The envoys present appreciated the initiated of the interior minister for highlighting the issue and taking the lead for finding a solution on the issue of blasphemy on social media.

They also agreed in principle with the strategy drawn up by Nisar.

1-Create localized versions of Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
(P.S govt. make some investment to transfer high quality videos and high optimization options in new website that serves interests of Pakistan across the internet i.e. Youtube's improved version or at least clone.Make social website with improved experience and give options to people to sync and transfer all of their contacts and data from FB to your well monitored and programmed website and then impose ban for effective result)

See what Chinese are doing:

2-Facebook's owner has not fallen from sky.He was a student and human and came up with an idea of Facebook.Similarly, Google's owner was also human and he came up with this idea of making an innovative "search engine".

3-Do not expect others to understand your love and respect to Rasool Allah(SAW).Their hearts are devoid off it.We feel same respect for Prophet Jesus or Moses or Solomon or David(A.S) as well as we feel bad when we hear some fabricated stories about Arch angles(A.S).It is because during childhood we are taught to respect and we are lucky enough to love whom Allah(SWT) loves and dislike what Allah(SWT) dislikes and to be friend with whom Allah(SWT) is friend with.

How would the local versions access the huge databases already in existence globally?

.
Ban it and it will end up like youtube. No big DEAL.Most of the pakistanis cant live without it lets face it.its reality.

. .
..and exactly how would the huge databases already in existence globally access local versions?

regards

Either side would not be able to access the data, unless both parties agree to transfer policies. Merely creating a local version will not solve the problem without such agreements. It is not likely that such agreements will be possible.

You already knew the answer but you choose to make a complicated question not for the sake of discussion but something else.I would have appreciated if you would have already stated what you are stating above. So that I could make this clear to you that my post does not mean to go at war against global websites, rather than gaining independence and following up the Chinese model to make effective monitoring, ensuring enhanced security status and to take other advantages as well such as generating good source of profitable share. Also, to avoid repetition of such kind of sad incidences in future such as incident of draw prophet's day in past or seeing up an upload consisting of anti-islamic content.

May be it would be easier to join the Chinese platforms rather creating local ones?

This!

The dude is known flame thrower and wasting some really good threads with his useless blind hatred against Pakistan.

I fully support the idea of localized versions. There are so many youngsters wasting their time on useless things, let Govt. announce some thing like One Kror (Rs. 10 million) reward for anyone creating a great social website and you'll see what happens.

I feel very bad because he has an amazing mind, believe me.It saddens me and I am and will always encourage him to be more constructive in future.I appreciate the way he articulates and speaks up but he is destructive and negative due to some bitter incidents. Please spare him :)
Yes, we can do that ofcourse. However, it is much better to make institutions and depts that facilitates this student and IT professionals, focuses on their growth by sending them for training and making investments in their projects. Also, assigning targets to IT workers in govt. website and providing all possible resources. We not only need IT experts for making up these sites but we need IT strategist as well - :)

Agreed about the institutional support, which will indeed be very welcome. There are so many bright minds out there with great innovative ideas.

Govt + private sector can do wonders. And govt doesn't even need to invest huge sums there!
