I own a bmw for 2 years and I have paid about $5000 so far on various little things going wrong here and there.. so ......

I had it insured as a classic/weekend car with a mileage limit per year.
for the three years i used it, it was not very fuel efficient but it was reliable and trouble free. Obviously I got it second hand, so I had to replace brake discs and two calipers + a good overall service.

The BMW i got is a M3, the insurance is a rip off, the engine is full of troubles, the SMG is shot to bits every 10000 miles, various electronic bits in the car light up all the time, I had to change the fuel pump, the brake lines got corroded, the MAF and catalyst went.. too much to mention really ... .
No i don't think a Ferrari is more reliable than a german car, I am just saying that just because you expect one not to be, it doesn't make it so

That is utter nonsense, so does metallic paint in cars and boats, that doesn't make them rust more.

besides, there isn't a military on this planet that doesn't combat rust in its equipment...

Who said other combat planes don't rust ? We spent hours inspecting planes to make sure we are trouble free and making minor repairs and replacements here and there.. F16s, M2000s, F1s,F5s they all had their little troubles here and there... it is natural ...

what happens is that some of the aluminium skin panels (i.e. some of the bits that make up the skin of the plane) and some bits of the substructure i.e. the skeleton the panels attach to), have some rust on them.

it is probably because of the way they were manufactured and treated with the RAM coatings. Although it is probably (but not certain) a side effect of the new RAM coatings + paint, this is not the first time something like this happens on planes ships and vehicles.
LM said it has a way of minimising this.. i believe them.

it is rust for the name of God, it is not the end of the world.

Planes are made from a plethora of materials.

stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, composites etc.

hence in some points all around, some rust may develop, it's no big thing really
