FM 90

At the end of 1998, the FM-90, an enhanced version of the FM-80/HongQi 7, was introduced to the public. Compared to the original system, the improvements on the FM-90 include:

Using VLSI technology-based computer (designed by 706 Institute) to replace the original LSI technology-based S-9 computer on the HongQi 7/FM-80.
Using digital electronic technology to replace the original analogue design, increasing the missile's abilities against active/passive jamming.
Using a new two-waveband tracking radar to replace the original monopulse radar
An infrared camera was added to the TV tracking system so that the optical tracking system can be used at night.
Target information between search and firing units is transmitted via a datalink pole system similar to that fitted on the later production Thomson-CSF Crotale 4000.
Re-designed missile warhead fusing system.
In addition, the missile's seeking/homing range, maximum speed, and attack range all have been improved, which greatly increases its combat effectiveness. With a maximum detecting range of 25km, the FM-90 is capable of attacking three targets using three different guidance modes simultaneously. The missile also has anti-missile ability against ultra-low-altitude cruise missiles, air-to-surface missiles, and anti-radiation missiles at a distance of 17km

this range cannot be effective against aircrafts for sure as they wont be so dumb to come so close to the ship,,
however if as efficient as the sources claim them to be, they may porve good enough in anti-missile role!

How is the FM90 system on FP22 reloaded?

it must be manual for sure. we do not see any auto reloder type of thing with the launch assembly!
however sir it have eight tubes and this is a hel of fire power!

FM-90 surface to air missile launcher is not very long range and its effecitveness against cruise and antiship missels is also questionable and now a days no aricraft with antiship role or antiship helicopter is going to come near as 80 to 100km. So Pakistan should buy MBDA Aster 30 with range of 3–120 km, speed of Mach 4.5; 1,400 m/s with flight altitude of 20 km.
MBDA Aster 30 is integrated on Republic of Singapore Navy Formidable class frigates. Formidable class frigate has Displacement of 3,200 tonnes on other hand F-22P has Displacement of 3,144. So both type of Frigrates has same weight class. These FM-90 surface to air missiles can be integrated on Pakistani missel boats. But integraton on Frigrates is a fatal mistake.!

- Most modern frigates are NOT armed with SAM's with a range of 80 km or more. The modern vertically launched ESSM has roughly twice the range of the Sea Sparrow PDMS missile namely 27+ nm/50+ km. This is the range of the old SM1 medium range missile!
- The Formidable class frigates are fitted with the DCNS Sylver vertical launch system with MBDA Aster 15/30 surface-to-air missiles. Against aircraft/helicopters, Aster 15 has a range of 30km and Aster 30 a range of 120 km range again) missile. In anti-missile mode, however, the Aster 15 has a range of (just) 15km and for Aster-30 a similar range reduction can be expected.

according to aisandefence blog f-22p which is going to produce in pakistan will be 2920 ton intead of 2500 ton if that true than what new feature it going to have ? furthermore any possibily that it may have any ESM or other sophiticated system ?

It's likely that the F-22P has room for future upgrades such as vertical-launch surface-to-air missiles and better anti-submarine warfare capability. The reason why it has not been equipped that well right now is probably because the PN is still looking for a suitable system, and the range of products available (to equip F-22P) is fairly limited.

IMO the PN has two main options for feasible long-term use on its diverse range of surface ships (planned). First is a further developed Umkhonto-R/NG with 25~30km range. The second option would be a naval-variant of IRIS-T SL, again with a 25~30km range. However, neither one of these systems is available right now, perhaps in a few years.

Sylver A35 with VL VT1 missile might be a (very) good option for an uparmed F22P. There is at present no evidence to support the assumption that F22P is poorly equipped for ASW.

True. Air defence is probably the actual issue, and I think F-22P's limitations have more to do with the fact that options are largely limited at the moment. Nonetheless, PakDef's Usman Shabbir reported that PN is interested in the Umkhonto, just unsure if it is the IR or R, the latter presently under development.
