Isn't it pointless to make a stealthy hull, add stealthy VL air defence then leave the anti-ship missiles in exposed box launchers? What VL AShM options would be available to the PN and what about stealthy CIWS options? Or am I going overboard with the stealth thing and VL air defence is nothing to do with reducing radar signature?

Would VL MICA be a good option if the PAF adopt it on their new fighters? Common maintenance facilities, reduced price due to large order, etc.? In the last couple of years the PAF have been serious about buying it for their next batch of JF-17.

Type 054A normally carries 32 (4x8) SAMs. If, instead, you put, say, 16-24 VL Mica, you might be able to accommodate a VL for SSM. The only systems currently available would be russian > Universal VL launcher + Club SSM or Onix SSM (a.k.a. Brahmos). So, even with Club VL, possible but not very likely. So, next best is to modify the design somewhat to shield the SSMs currently on it. Examples: Dutch LCF/Zeven provincien and Russian project 20380 Steregushy.

F22P is stealthier than Jiangwei 2 yet hardly a stealth hull compared to Type 054A. No room for a VL SSM without loosing SAMs.

Now, it's time to release the 3rd F-22P.

251(F-22P) , 512 (designed for Thailand ,and exported to Thailand in 2006) , and 054 class (China) are all come from the original chinese F-16U. They looks alike very much concerning the body.

512, built in the same ship factory with F-22P in ShangHai, was installed with western weapons. Though the 512 was built later than 251, i think 512 are better than 251 about ship's body,more invisible on radar.
512 was left a blank after the gun in the front to install VSL like 054 though the tailand did't installed because of money.
so why can't we have VLS and make our ship more stealth?

1. The 251/F22P is a 2500-3500 ton frigate that derives from the Type 053H3 (Jianghu 2) class frigates.
2. The vessel '512' is the second 1440 ton 'Pattani class' OPV built to Thai specs, with western armaments.
3. While Type 054/A is a more recent 4500 ton frigate design for domestic consumption, theF-16U is a 1600 ton frigate specifically designed for export (with western arms and sensors) first revealed in 1999.

Pattani class doesn't have space and weight reserved for a VLS forward of the bridge, you're confused with the F25T frigate (another Type 053H3 derivative) a.k.a. Narusuan class.

Pattani OPVs cost just $45 million apiece?

F22P(FFG) are better than 512(OPV)

Obviously as the latter has no SSM and no SAM and is 1000 ton smaller. Though her range/endurance may be better.
