Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

Dont be fooled by bias media. Malaysian are no idiots. They do know what kind of trade agreement that is beneficial to them. End of the day, nobody forces them to sign those trade deals. Just like how western media keep harping about China trade deal debt-ridden African when its is the western that enslaves and killed many natives in the past.

China always advocate win-win situation. There is not such deal that benefit Chinese only. China could have just bribe dictator money and get deals they want but Chinese always advocate infrastructure becos it will benefits the public and secondly to reduced the exposure of corruption for the public.

What makes you think anyone is being influenced by media bias here. There are strategic considerations at work. This does not rule out any deal but it is naive to simply brush everything based on your blanket assertion that goes against beliefs of tens of nations currently trading with China. As Dr Mahatir said, we do not blame China as we we ourselves signed those deals.

lol, strange business. They wont buy it from China cheaper but from USA or Russia or France or Swiden at thrice the price just because they have a trade deficit with China ?

Did you even read what you quoted. Can you quote where I mentioned they will not buy from China and also educate us all here about your inside info on the pricing of these jets other than again, hearsay and news articles that we all are privy to!

The bias article is not meant to influence politician but public media opinion which in turn try to exert pressure on government. Political media nowadays is a big business. I think I do not need to remind you. From Syria, Libya, Egypt , Russia and USA.... We all have witness the destruction and effect.

Pakistani "Thunder" will strengthen Azerbaijan
This year, the arsenal of the air forces of our country should appear new
fighter jf-17
Timur Rzayev
2019 has every chance to become special for the Air Force
Azerbaijan. The fact is that, in accordance with the agreement signed between our country and Pakistan
the contract, in service with the Air Force this year should receive new fighters “JF-17” “Thunder”,
made in pakistan. This will significantly strengthen our army, will bring the air force to
new quality level. What will this acquisition give to Azerbaijan? About this we detail
and tell you.
Powerful, needed, profitable
Recently it became known that Baku and Islamabad are completing negotiations on the issue of purchase
fighter-bomber “JF-17”. As stated by the representative of “Pakistan Aeronautical Complex”
(RAS), all problems associated with the supply of fighter jets have already been resolved. “Interesting Azerbaijan
The configuration of “JF-17 Block 2” has already been tested and is used by the Pakistan Air Force. During flights
they justified themselves. The Azerbaijani side was waiting for the Pakistani Air Force to use this model, ”
he noted.
“JF-17” meets all the requirements of the Azerbaijani Air Force in range and speed,
combat loading, maneuverability, target detection range by radar, angular velocity,
multifunctionality, takeoff and landing characteristics, etc. After all, our military theater
replete with mountains, at the same time in Azerbaijan there are large plains, forests, the Caspian Sea. For
protection of the country's airspace, effective destruction of both air and ground and
surface targets Azerbaijan does not need huge interceptors such as “Su-27” or “F-15 Eagle”. Here
MIG-29, F-16, etc. aircraft are much more suitable. - light, well-armed,
highly maneuverable, capable of acting effectively at both low and high altitudes, etc.
The versatility of this aircraft is also important - it can be used as
interceptor, attack aircraft (attack aircraft), escort fighter, reconnaissance, front-line
fighter. Thus, the presence of such a universal aircraft saves the state budget for
maintenance of the entire fleet, makes it simpler and more uniform, facilitates preparation
pilots and technicians, maintenance and repair of aircraft at airfields.
It is especially important that Azerbaijan even such a plane as its JF-17 suitable for its Air Force,
demanded to further improve it. Now they’re talking about purchasing the “JF-17 Block 3” configuration,
serial production of which will begin in late 2019 - early 2020. This version, among other things,
has a refueling system in the air and a perfect radar. That is, we get a modern,
highly maneuverable, powerful and well-armed fighter-bomber.
Tested in battle
Recent military clashes between the Pakistani and Indian air forces after the aggravation of the situation between the two
countries have given experts rich food for thought. After all, in terms of scope and involvement in it
aircraft, as well as the variety of types of aircraft involved in the battle, it can be called one of
the most unusual and versatile in recent times. For the Azerbaijani army, the battle between the Air Force
Pakistan and India, in which “JF-17 Block” 1 destroyed one “Mig 2” 1 and, according to some reports, knocked out
“Su-30”, which accidentally landed in Indian territory, is generally very interesting - because we buy
this plane is in Pakistan, and are interested in a full study of the features of its practical
application. The battle with the Indian Air Force showed that good maneuverability, speed and angular speed, radar,
power ratio of the Pakistani fighter “JF-17” and its ability to effectively act as
at low and high altitudes are indispensable in modern combat. Moreover, the aircraft is equipped
multiple color displays in the cockpit and a helmet-mounted scope, which greatly facilitates
piloting and conducting air combat.
And this, I repeat, with the improved “Mig-21-93” was still not the most perfect
version of “JF-17 Block I”. And the Azerbaijani Air Force gets much more “advanced" machine - “Block
III ”, which has an AESA radar with an active phased array antenna. This radar is
“KLJ-7A” manufactured by the Research Institute “China Electronics Technology Group Corporation” (CETGC). At “CETGC”
claim that the “KLJ-7A” has similar characteristics to the radar used in American
fifth generation fighter “F-35”. In particular, with the help of the new radar “JF-17” will be able
detect targets at a distance of up to 170 km and will have a military advantage over fighters “F-16
C / D ”and“ F-15 C / D ”basic versions (not equipped with radars with AFAR).
Even this one radar already puts “Thunder” to a very high level - after all, tracking 15
air targets at the same time. simultaneous “capture” of 4 targets means that “JF-17 Block 3” is not
worse in capabilities than Russian Su-ZOMKI, Su-35S, MiG-35, Indian Tejas Mk.2, and
also the French “Rafale”. Add to this the fact that the aircraft has a high

What is the hold up with Azerbaijan?

They were considered the first country to buy the JF-17 Thunder and nearly a decade later, both Nigera and Myanmar have bought the aircraft while Azerbaijan still seems to be expressing "interest" in the fighter.

Do the Azerbaijanis even want the JF-17 Thunders or has Pakistan simply been trying to persuade them to buy it?

Azerbaijan's total defence budget is only $2 billion for 2019.

They are just posturing; i doubt anything will come off it; you must remember they have Russian influence that dictates fighter purchase.

This is what their air force currently operates:

Fighter: MiG-21 = 5
Multirole: MiG-29 = 13
Fighter: Su-25 = 12

Wikipedia

Even if they buy any JF-17 Thunders, it'll be a small batch considering the above inventory.

yes; it is very unlikely they will purchase anything else for now; you must remember their leadership wants the status quo on karabakh to remain; any additional escalation will be put down by moscow.

Nigeria is set to receive 3 JF-17 Block II's from PAC Kamra in Q1'2020.

The production has entered final assembly at AMF. :pakistan:

EDIT: Total order stands at 08 JF-17 Block II with an option of 08 more (subject to funds)

They are still building these? I would've thought they built these last year and Nigerian pilots were probably familiarising themselves with their own.Thunders this year.
