Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

if pak sell jf-17 to other country than what will be the contribution of china in profit. however i know pak is partner of jf-17 but engine which cost is around $10 mn buying by china from russia and all the major component is coming from china at cheap price so i think their should be contribution of china in profit. however the profit should be less bcoz out of $17 mn the only engine cost is only $10 mn.

As far as I know RD93 costs $2.5 mn a piece and profit of sale of JF17 either by China or Pakistan is to divided half half between both partners.
(I may be wrong)
And also, I guess, $15mn is just a cost not price.

Anyway! Other gurus like TaimiKhan, MastanKhan, Nabil or Mark Sein can give you authentic figures.

RD-93s cost is for now around 2.5-3.0Mln $$, depending the order, larger the order, lesser would be the price.

The export price would be somewhere around 20Mln $$ or even more, depending on the avionics suite and clients requirements. I see a figure of 20+ upto 25Mln or so, the 15-17Mln price tag for now is for Pakistan and China, as these include no profits being charged, and the money invested in the project is also to be recovered and added in export prices.

Bringing in western engine would add further problems, as it would need further testing, it will be expensive driving up the price of JF-17 and the engine can not be re-exported to everyone, thus it will bring additional problems.

Russian and Chinese engine options are the best ones.

F-100 is a very big engine compared to RD-93, thus will be a hard job to accommodate it in JF-17s, will need redesign or a bigger air frame required.

F414 is a good option.

Also, in JF-17 airframe, additional space has been left in case a slightly larger engine is to be fitted without any redesigning of the airframe.

.
what is the ideal engine for JF 17 if their are no blocks and money probleums. i hope pakistan airforce chooses the best avilable option for JF 17 engine is a heart of any fighter jet

i think the best option is the ws-13 with the 100Kn-115KN thrust.
also known as ws-13A..which has TVC also..and is also tested on Jf-17 in march 2010..
with this engine ther will be no fear of stoppin of engine likerussia
and is more power then the rd-93..it will definetly increase the speed of jf-17 and payload

@MK, But dont you think most buyers will wait for Pakistan to have a substantial skin in the game (considering China is not yet equipping PLAF with this plane) before committing on a purchase. Specially with the recent noise about RD 93s

Are there any details of what the financial arrangements will be between China and Pakistan on exports considering China owns the IP and Pakistan owns the production?

we'll be already having 2 sqds by the end of this year.....I think it is a clear enough signal.....secondly its a 50-50 project (but some sources indicated that PAF has more than 50% share anyways keeping this aside) so whoso ever manufactures the order...the profit will be shared between China and Pakistan...and btw can you elaborate the highlighted statement?

however the profit should be less bcoz out of $17 mn the only engine cost is only $10 mn.
waoooow!!!.....
China contract with Russia placed in 2005 for 100 RD-93 turbofan engines to power the FC-1 fighter aircraft. The contract was valued at $267 million and the Russian contractors were Klimov and Chernyshev. Engine deliveries were due to begin in 2006.
my mathematics tells me
263/100= 2.63 Mio.....
I dont know how did you calculated this 10 Mio fig

Why not PAF make a joint venture with Ukraine Ivchenko-Progress and build an indegious engine manufacturing industry in Pakistan?

they only produce low powered engines.....not the beasts like RD-93 or AL-31F...

Their turbofan engines are
DV-2- 24.50 kN
AI-25- 16.9 kN

and for JFT
RD-93- 50+ kN

so it would not be a useful partnership

I said the JV will focus on new indegious turbo fan industry meaning new design, new research new product all together. Not just manufacutre existing tech under license.

.
We need our own AESA radar and engine atleast with 130Kn thrust for our future Medium weight aircraft

for jf-17 china has already developed a engine
