Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

.
A force to be reckoned with
Posted on 9 August 2010 in Defence

...For some years, the Egyptian air force has had a requirement for a more capable strike fighter than the F-16. Egypt requested 12 F-15E Strike Eagles in 2002, but this request was turned down, as was a 2005 request for the supply of 60-100 F-16C/D Block 60/62s.

After this rebuff, in November 2006, Egypt began talks with Mikoyan hoping to buy 40 MiG-29SMT fighters. By 2007, it was negotiating for a larger batch of 60-80 MiG-29SMTs, 20-25 Sukhoi Su-35s and 24-40 Yak-130 advanced trainer/light support aircraft. Subsequently, there were reports of Egyptian negotiations to join the Sino-Pakistani JF-17 programme, with a reported interest in taking 48 of these advanced fighters.
The chance that Egypt might buy Russian or Chinese fighters encouraged the USA to view the country’s request for advanced F-16s more sympathetically and, as a result, the EAF will now receive a batch of 16 F-16C Block 52+ and four F-16D Block 52s, together with JDAM kits for the EAF’s stock of Mk84 bombs. The supply of AIM-120 AMRAAM beyond visual range missiles remains problematic, however.

Arabian Aerospace - A force to be reckoned with

NOTE: This article clearly shows the true picture of EAF. Even with getting blk52+ they are being denied of BVR AIM120. So Thunder is the best option for them. I hope they buy it rather than wasting money of US fighters.

They should stop purchasing from U.S or even E.U. This is the way that all the Muslim Countries should follow now a days. As the scenario is changing and the NATO is not that good with us now. So it will be good to develop different military as well as civilian tech with Chinese Russian in kind of JV projects and try to invest more in to education and R&D. So that it can produce some good results. I think its the time they should think over if Egypt, Lybia, Algeria and Syria joined with the JF-17 project and they be doing Electronics and sensor work in a JV project with E.U then it will give them not only a good fighter but a reliable piece of machine that will serve them in future.:pakistan::cheers::pakistan:

Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju sprang a surprise on Pakistani fighter pilots at the recently-concluded Farnborough International Airshow.

The minister decided to check out the static display of Pakistan Air Force’s JF-17 fighters that were taking part in an airshow for the first time. The minister quizzed the pilots about the capabilities of the fighter.

A Pakistan Air Force pilot said, “We were quite surprised to have the Indian minister visit us. He was quite curious about the aircraft and asked us about the range, weapons payload and its development history.”

Amazing is the fact that he knew what a range , payload means in terms of fighter aircraft !!! After all he is a minister -- he exceded my expectations :)

Sorry if off topic but is Indian equivalent LCA a potential competitor of JFT or MIG in the market? Its not ready now but after 2/3 years down the road when ready?

No, the first duty for the LCA will to take over the roles of MIG-21 as a much better platform. This has also meant incorporation of a lot of foreign technology including engines. When you have a platform with equipment and technology from other countries it becomes very difficult to market it without permission, just like how they were reports on the engine of the JF-17.

The LCA's second duty is to become a test platform for various other projects.

in short, considering the time lost in sanctions, delayed projects, India's primary aim is to develop a very potent platform incorporating western weaponry and its own to replace the MIG 21s. Our air-force is the first target.

and lastly, in-spite of the numerous critics we have over this project, LCA is BVR capable, has a trainer version, a naval version and will include the best of both Indian and Western technology (a lot more will come through the MRCA deal). So on paper it would be very interesting to compare the two as they mature, but as far as export is considered, its not priority as of now!

well its pretty natural....you would love to know more and more about your adversary and same would be the case with PAF as well which would be keen about IAF inventory....I guess IAF Chief also visited FC-1 and inspected it carefully during his visit to zhuhai air show in 2008 (correct me if i am wrong)

.
He must have known all this but just for confirmation sake, asked firsthand from PAF folks :P

Previously I advocated that Pakistan should first get 100 JF-17 then start exporting fighters. Now in the thread we discussed the "killer switch" that US may have installed in our F-16s. Now the issue that comes to mind is that whether RD-33 from Russia does have that too. Russia sold this engine for reexport to Pakistan after giving India assurances. What were those assurances ? Now think we should export nearly all JF-17 until WS-13 is installed.

I guess PAF n armed forces in general are stupid they they would go and buy F-16s if they couldnt even use em against arch rival in case of a war?and export a jet before they fulfill there own needs?
There are 2 production lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If egypt gets em they il also get a assembly line !!!

Its a engine engines dont have satellite connectivity or anything to shut em off.

God people love conspiracies!:hitwall:
