Explosion kills seven in Xinjiang

Flash News:

Xingjiang was not, as many believe, originally inhabited by the Uighurs. The area has been inhabited by Han Chinese since the 700s until the Manchus relocated the Uighurs to the area in the late 18th century.

Besides, I think it is a bit of a double standard to call the incident "ethnic riot". An explosive device was detonated and people were killed. This is an act of terrorism and should not be endorsed by anybody.

Now to tell the quote from James bond movie...

"One's Terrorist is another freedom fighter" that is what Inida was facing so far, innocents being killed by those freedom fighters from our Neighbours view.. and terrorists in our view...

RIP to those souls that lost their life and future

Since East Turkestan is under Chinese control, the Chinese Administration discriminates against the Uyghurs in all walks of life. The Uyghurs have no public representation in their own country. They will be discriminate in employment, population growth, health care, education, literature and economy by the Chinese.

Using violence against innocent civilians is the tactic of the cowards. Right now so many people have the misconception that terrorism is linked to Islam when radical environmentalists, Marxists, and even right-wing Americans (Oklahoma city bombing, for instance) are capable of such act. We must set the priorities straight and oppose such violence regardless of the political/religious agenda behind them.

Wow...great!! We are strugging to determine that the name means and what race lived there?? :hitwall:

Anyways, sad incident. May the victims RIP.

It is a lie that Tibetans and Uighurs are treated as inferiors by the Chinese government. Being minorities they get points added to their college entrance exams and the government tries to give them representation by appointing minorities to the people's council (one Uighur is in charge of the Department of Agriculture, I believe). Minorities even get out of trouble a lot easier if they commit CRIMINAL ACTS (as in a Uighur might get life imprisonment for killing some one but a Han might be shot). Can you imagine minorities in the United States getting similar treatments?

In tightly control and iron fisted rule in china its strange, i think its first time.

We regularly hear about syringe attack or knife attack as they don't get gun or explosives but how some terrorist get them now??

Now, Instead of targeting minority community china's cpc should take human approach to the problem. And world community should help china in this.

I do not agree with you in these statistics, Because the Chinese government seeks to improve the conditions of the Han Chinese only
The recent clashes in the region proved that, here is some Reliable informations not from Chinese sources:

As the national minorities descend the socio-economic scale in Xinjiang, their living standards become more precarious because China has almost no social security system whatever. According to the 1990 census, the infant mortality rate among the national minorities in Xinjiang was 3.6 times higher than among the Han and their life expectancy was 62.9 years as against 71.4 for the Han. At the same time, unemployment among young Uyghurs has led to higher crime rates and drug-taking—though these are culturally alien to this Muslim society. Poverty, and also the inequalities mentioned above, give Uyghurs the sense that they are excluded from economic growth to the benefit of the Han. The status of “second-rate” Chinese citizen contrasts with the promises of wealth and equality made by the regime at the time of Xinjiang’s “peaceful liberation”, and it has led many Uyghurs to think that they have been fooled by Peking’s communist pretensions and that, in reality, they are living under the yoke of a colonial regime.

So they decide that they are treated unequally because they refuse to learn Mandarin and take advantage of their education benefits?

Let us say that someone moved to the United States and refused to learn English. He doesn't earn enough money and has to resort to crimes instead but in the end blames the U.S. government for excluding them from the economical prosperity. I wonder what the well to do right-wingers would say then.

Xinjiang Unrest Timeline

Timeline: Terror in Xinjiang -- china.org.cn

Also timelines showing Xinjiang unrest

No real evidence of unrest other than 1 or 2 bombs going over every 1 or 2 years and some protests. None of the Uygher protests have had more than 1,000 people. There are 9 million Uygher's in China.

This is average stuff for every province of China, even in the areas that are primarily chinese

Did I say Mexicans? No. I used an unspecified nationality since Hispanics, contrary to popular beliefs, are one of the hardest working group of people in the United States. You are the one who made the connections and you are calling me racist?
