Exit army, enter police

This will help alot in the process of load shedding the anti-terrorist responsibilities from army's shoulders.

Also, the SSG training these guys shows the dedication and sincerity to the cause.

.
During the 16 week long counter terrorism training, - is this enough and what abt follow-on courses to maintain their (police) professional standards. this is the responsibility of the police - are they organised to do this?

.
16 week is enough sir. As they are tackling just one subject-counter terrorism. Army gives much lesser time for its non SSG anti-terrorist courses/cadres.

As for the follow on, well i think the only thing they would require later would be refresher cadres which can run by Police itself.

however there is a huge 'morale' difference between army cadres and the police cadres - its obvious army requires less time bcuz they are well-fed, well-clothed, well-trained and highly-motivated unlike the police cadres.

You are right. But then we dont let them clear the course until they display the desired results. Also after taking so many casualties the Police have learned it the hard way. They are quite eager to get trained and takes the interactions as a blessing.

Ofcourse the training would not imply that they can undertake independent AT ventures, but at;east they would teach them how to react when attacked and take some remedial measures accordingly.

i dont consider being poorly fed/clothed/motivated would be an issue here solely because it is training, they do it right, they may survive, if they dont, they sure are dead.

fair enough, but i have another fear that once 'trained' they will not be used in AT ops but used to protect the 'high and mighty'. case in point is the use of Punjab Elite force personnel, all 273 of them being used for security of NS/SS !!!! - there are other cases also!

.
Does any one know that if we in Pakistan have a local law enforcing agency ie. Police which have a unit with in the lines of SWAT. I know that we cant match them budget wise.

Well yeah, that's unfortunate.

The Elite Force has been getting on job 'training' by providing personal protection to Sharifs and cleaning their dirty laundry and guess what, they did screw at times!

But this one is the regular police, what i see is that the GD sepoy is being trained and this would then extend to the entire Police Force. Now however they might be employed, but atleast they would be more prepared to save their a$$ in an event of an attack Manawa type attack. i suggest that this training should also be added to the syllabi in their academies so that they come prepared and then they can refine these in the course of their service.

The Police has suffered alot, and unfortunately they have suffered even while being passive (not directly affecting the terrorists) and this would play a vital role in lowering the 'extra-curricular' Police employment by our politicians/VIPs.

I have never ever seen M113 with Police

any ways good for Police :pakistan:
When you fight for US interest and then get burnned own home
then any thing is allow even you are doing more than enough. But getting same words again n again "DO MORE"

yes trainnning is very very important but you have to combine with it equipment which is in bad shaoe for police i think they uses 50 percent of their weapons 50 years old and rusted that must be change they should have state of the art armoury for police not old AK 47 new AK 102 will be great few helicopters specially dedicated to police and we need to change their vehicles which can't keep up with thieves from dihatsu they have to be given corrolla yes police have corolla but few we need to give them corrolla's than we can say yes their is something police can do relying only on trainning is bad option both trainning and equipment is important if you sacrifice one of them you can't achieve your goals trainning without equipment is useless equipment with trainning is tottaly wastage

.
finally they are focusing on Internal Security, i hope Police will make use of this training when time comes :pakistan: :yahoo:

My friend we need to Quit this "For American Interests" the sooner the better. Are you deaf or can't see? Pakistanis are being killed daily by Pakistani religious extremists in the name of Islam!!!! Dont you know all this Afghan Jihad and the subsequent Taliban insertion was done by us for our interests -- ask Gul Hameed - he will tell you that were already preparing for this in 1974!!!!! Check out yeterdays "Mere Mutabiq" on GEO!!!

The sooner we realize that this is our problem and we have to do more for our sake sthe better it is for our future generations other wise we can all have different flag on our ID's -- just like yours!

No offence intended.
