TikTok already does that. Trump just doesn't like the idea that TikTok is Chinese owned.

It's about having no recourse to granting access to the CCP when they order it. TT can host it anywhere, but they remain legally obligated as a Chinese company, to give the Chinese government complete access to all databases upon request.

If there is no connection back to Chinese servers how can they transfer the data even if ordered by CCP?

Remote access logins and download it. You don't have to stand next to your servers in a data center typing into a connected laptop to access your database.

Mate remote access can work if there is network connectivity. Are you a network engineer? I am. Data can be isolated in US Servers and compliance standards can be put in place.

Servers must have connectivity to the world, outside datacenter cage otherwise nobody least user can access the data.
The question is whether or not Chinese intelligence can access to the database despite being stored in the US.
Trump administration says there is no assurance that China can’t.
There is no doubt The move to ban tiktok is politically motivated.

There are various methods of securing data while having outside connectivity, not going that way.

If Chinese intelligence can penetrate then they can penetrate Facebook, Twitter also. That's espionage and hacking, we are not talking about that.

For 50 billions $$$ ???
Not a bad deal for dance byte
50 billion is nothing compare to its potential.
Tiktok is the next Facebook. It is seriously challenging Facebook's dominance in social app world.

Just for reference: Instagram worth 100 billion+ ...

I give you a hint: the code of tiktok comes from China.
Any code needs regular updates.
You can inject malware into the code.

It's because the US wants to limit Chinese economic competition. The US gov has never proved that Tik Tok constitutes a national security threat or sends user data directly back to China (indeed even security experts admit this). It is just a matter of the US wanting to maintain its tech lead over China and finding a legal excuse to do so. I am American and I can see this ... nothing wrong with this approach but just know what the real reason behind this is. The US wants to maintain technological edge over China and if they can do so this way, then that is good.

Hence the reason why the US banned it/forced its sale

this is not going to do it though. the core technological competency valuable to national development isn't social media apps. Thanks to overwhelming US soft power, at most, TikTok is free money for China. It can never be used for influence.

Instead, it is probably because the regime hates TikTok due to millenials and Gen-Z Americans using it to spread left wing memes and due to racism. Never underestimate the degree to which actual racism influences policy. Adolf Hitler viewed people like Ford as his models. Nazi law was copied from Jim Crow, except for the one drop rule - the Nazis found the one drop rule to be too strict, and settled for a 25% drop rule.

Republicans claimed the K-pop group BTS stands for "big time socialists" and spreads foreign propaganda. They claimed that BTS fans on TikTok disrupted the Trump rally in Tulsa. The true reason: they despise Asians. The only difference is, they're willing to tolerate non-Chinese as vassals as long as they go against China. If they aren't useful for that, they'll subjugate them like they did to Toshiba, which Japan still has not recovered from.
