what a great man u r do u even know police is also considered as an armed force?
I don't need to make fun of you, since you are doing uch a great job yourself.

Dude, CRPF is the central reserve police force. It is not any special force of any other reserved police or any such crap. And no, police forces are not considered as armed forces of India, whi is a term exclusicely reserved to military forces. Namely the army, navy, air force and coast guard.

The Indian Armed Forces (Devanāgarī: भारतीय सशस्त्र सेनाएं, Bhāratīya Saśastra Sēnāēn) are the military forces of the Republic of India. It consist of four professional uniformed services: the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard.

Police is also considered as Armed Force in the World i dont know abt yr standards.

.
@Umair Nawaz : The CRPF has a very small and new special force batallion, called the COBRAs. So I suppose the COBRAs are the special force of the special force of the reserve force according to you. LOL.

Anyway, try to learn something. The CRPF, as its name says, is the reserve police force of India, mainly employed for election duties and such occasions when the local police forces don't have adequate numbers. Riot control, election duties are their main function, and they also fight insurgents, because to us it is a mere law and order problem, to be sorted out by the policemen, not the army with tanks and fighter jets.

In your country the police, paramilitaries, militaries are all getting whipped by insurgents, so I guess yo can't understand the difference in magnitude.

.
mate C.R.P.F. is basically a reserve Police force maintained by the GoI which can be pressed into any law and order crisis within the Indian territories.the same thing happened in the red corridor also.Initially the C.R.P.F. were taking heavy casualties owing to poor training in counter-insurgency and jungle warfare but the tides are changing slowly but surely in their favor after the establishment of a specialised Counter-insurgency unit called COBRA within the C.R.P.F.these COBRA personnel are being trained by the Indian Army trainers at the CIJWS in Mizoram and due to their superior training and sophisticated weaponry they have been instrumental in inflicting serious damages to the Maoist ranks in the recent years.nowadays, the Maoist rebels are being hunted at will by these COBRA operatives and most of the senior leadership of C.P.I.(Maoist) have either been eliminated or being arrested in the past 2-3 years.
Maoists are now basically fighting for their very survival and i can only say that they are loosing grounds to the Indian Police personnel by the each passing day:coffee:
if thats true then i think there r big issue within yr management staff or the bureaucrats who make such decisions. Their roles as per wikipedia r same as our SFs operating in KP. Maybe thats why we dont hear this abt our armed forces.

i have answered this already.

CRPF is a special force of yr armed forces just like we have SFs for FC and Police as well. But we have never heard them to be so incompetent.

There is no mention of CRPF in the list! IT IS NOT A SPECIAL FORCE damn it! :hitwall:
Again, do refer to the basics of the subject before you plan to troll on it!

You might have Elite Police Branches in your respective Police Departments but India does not have any such practice!

Actually its a classical case of proving anything by statistics.. This fact is due to reduction in the fatalities in J&K etc and not the other way around :)

If you see below, the fatalities due to left wing extremism have remain more of less same since 2005, and have shown a slight increase till 2010 and decrease post that

On the other hand, in J&K the count has decreased by over 90% between 2005 and 2013..

Trust indian media to put a negative spin on this :D

would u like to study it by yrself?

''The armed forces of a country are its government-sponsored defence, fighting forces, and organizations. They exist to further the foreign and domestic policies of their governing body and to defend that body and the nation it represents from external and internal aggressors. In broad usage, the terms "armed forces" and "military" are often treated synonymously, although in technical usage a distinction is sometimes made in which a country's armed forces may include both its military and other paramilitary forces. Armed force is the use of armed forces to achieve political objectives.

The study of the use of armed forces is called military science. Broadly speaking, this involves considering offense and defense at three "levels":strategy, operational art, and tactics. All three levels study the application of the use of force in order to achieve a desired objective.''

it doesnt mentions police specifically but it rather defines the roles of the ''armed forces'' Now if u the trouble to reading the page abr CRPF it also defines its roles as same!

So in the end even yr own sources prove me right.

There is nothing there to answer, but lots to read and learn.

Mate he is confused, in their country they use military to take care of internal threats, case and point being them shelling the insurgents in their tribal areas. so for them everything is military.

None so ignorant as they who refuse to learn. Your ignorant comment was that armed forces also includes police. But as you can see, there is no mention of police forces on that page, or indeed in any article about armed forces. It is a term that is reserved for the military and paramilitaries. You can also find links on that page to countries without armed forces, although they all have police forces.

The CRPF is a police force. It is not even considered a paramilitary force, since 2009. The name itself should be a give away.

And no, they are not the special force of a reserve police as you earlier said.

Leave that troll - he lacks basic comprehension skills - I am quoting from the sources he provided in his argument only but still he is not getting it! He is himself confused! :coffee:

Actually the Punjab Police in Pakistan has a SF branch known as Elite Police and he thinks that it applies to India as well! :hitwall:

First, you don't know what is Special Forces and you continue to rant.

Special forces, or special operations forces are military units highly trained to perform unconventional, often high-risk missions. Special forces, as they would now be recognised, emerged in the early 20th century, with a significant growth in the field during the Second World War.

It came into existence as the Crown Representative's Police on 27 July 1939. After Indian Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on enactment of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

Besides Law and Order and counter-insurgency duties, the role of CRPF in the General Elections, held repeatedly during the past few years, has been very significant and vital. This is especially true for the trouble-ridden states of J&K, Bihar and in the North East. During the Parliamentary elections of September 1999, the CRPF played a major role in the security arrangements. Of late, CRPF contingents are also being deployed in UN missions.

With 228 battalions[2] and various other establishments, the CRPF is considered India's largest paramilitary force .[3]
