Exclusive: India losing more soldiers in Red Corridors than J-K

I did not "hope" for any such thing. I said correctly that these problems will increase during the development stage of any country, or do you think India is some sort of magical exception?

Fair enough.

Though I do not consider democracy to be a downside. I consider it to be an advantage, it acts as a "pressure valve" that helps to maintain a nation's stability.

Authoritarian systems require a fairly homogenous society, and even in purely homogeneous societies they regularly fail, North Korea being the most obvious example.

China's "decent" performance is a function of luck, that we ended up with leaders like Deng Xiaoping who reformed the system to continue in his style of administration, and included some rudimentary type of pressure valves, which ensure constant changing of the leadership.

Still nowhere close to ideal though.
What are your views on Mao? Do you think his policies were needed? Or warranted? Do you feel modern China owes it's preeminence to Mao in a major way? What do you think would be the China of today had the Kuomintang held on to mainland China?

No, no and no.

I do give respect to Mao on one count, he kicked foreigners out of China and got us our sovereignty back.

However, his economic policies were a pure disaster, most notably the Great Leap Forward, which led to millions of Chinese people starving to death. And the Cultural Revolution was an exercise in insanity and bloodshed the likes of which I did not believe Chinese people were capable of. It was one of the worst periods in all human history.

If only Deng Xiaoping came to power sooner, I believe we would have been a developed country by now.

The CPC after Deng Xiaoping has been mostly good I think. His ideology of "pragmatism" saw more people lifted out of poverty than anywhere else in the history of the Earth.

I support "pragmatism", I HATE "ideological extremism".

As for the KMT, I think they were worse. The bastard Chiang Kai-shek preferred to fight fellow Chinese instead of the Japanese invaders, he was so bad his own generals had to kidnap him and force him to fight the Japanese. Such horrific leaders were the curse of China during our Century of Humiliation and beyond.

Your view mirrors mine :D

Indian Army at her best yet again.

good to have you back. I thought you lost your mind in the other thread 'Ratonal discussion with Indians'

Could you stop grooming me, I think I have exposed Arab child abuse ring.:disagree:

In terms of my favourite modern Chinese leaders, I would say: Deng Xiaoping, Zhu Rongji, Hu Jintao, and Zhou Enlai.

For the current Xi-Li Administration I am still waiting to see. I didn't like the fact that Xi Jinping was from the "princeling" faction... but I have been very impressed with his wide-ranging and persistent crackdown on corruption. I honestly didn't think he would go through with it in such a forceful way, even toppling the highest level of politicians. So it looks pretty good right now.

Seriously? Just today 23 were executed by Taliban. Some Military research scholar you are :undecided:

And the Taliban threatened the Kalash with genocide. And the Military did nothing.

Well said. I too believe that it was Deng Xiaoping and his economic liberalization that worked superbly for China and ensured that while Communist Governments were crumbling everywhere, the CPC was still going strong. To be honest, I feel that a communist government with a capitalist outlook is in fact the best way to govern India as well. Otherwise, there simply is no end to the number of ways that progress gets held up, often for very trivial reasons.

The reason why large countries like US, Australia, Canada, Brazil etc find it so easy to maintain a capitalist and liberal democracy is because they're essentially virgin lands(once the original inhabitants were sidelined anyways) where people weren't born with multiple identities of faith, culture and kinship. The mindsets of the settlers here were easy to mould and develop a new sense of identity within them. Not so in case of the old World, where people have so much of history and multiple identities attached to them. That's one reason I like the Chinese model, which though autocratic, is also mindful of the need for material wealth and progress for it's citizens.

Our system now is called "Socialism with Chinese characteristics".

It was a system designed specifically for China.

It works right now, but it needs to be reformed to keep up with a changing world and a changing China.

Our last reforms were carried out in November 2013, and notably included a Free Trade Zone in Shanghai, welfare reform, as well as the removal of the One child policy. But a lot more needs to be done.

Sometimes I wonder how is this nation holding on as one country. It seems impossible to me when we look at the fact that 400 soldiers are dying every year fighting traitors. We are in a constant state of war with our own people.

While the world media is focussing on break up and terrorism in Pakistan, the real game is being played out somewhere else. Maoists in India are by far the biggest terrorist group in the world with millions in service and almost 40% of our country coverred. They have their own factories to produce weapons and ammunition. It's amazing how India is able to keep this issue away from world attention, and keeping the world busy making Pakistan the villan.

But the jungle war being fought in the Red Corridor is a war of attrition. The Marcos are more suited for extraction & sabotage, not to fight a prolonged war of cat and mouse in the jungle. If the Government gets hold of concrete info on the whereabouts of senior Naxal leaders, maybe then Marcos can be used to extract them with as little noise as possible.

Now that was exactly i meant.. I was not telling that the MARCOS should fight but Do their actual stuff grab the top bosses of Naxals.. Mr. M.K Alagiri

But if only our Govt knew the exact whereabouts of their Leaders though. Kishenji is said to have usually moved from place to place every 48 hours. Difficult in such circumstances too.

Police is also considered as Armed Force in the World i dont know abt yr standards.
Are you actually serious? Are you playing dumb or what bro?

The GoI has purposely avoided sending in Military/Armed forces into this fight and has kept the fight purely the responsibility of the Police forces of the country with the armed forces merely providing logistical and training support.
