Featured Ex PN Chief Zafar Mehmood Abbasi highlighted PN modernization

How come J-class factors in PN plans?
If PN envisions a fleet of 20 major warships, then it completes after integration of 6 HTVs.
Or should we assume that J-class are the 6 HTVs? (which is not the case). I tried to get more know how about J-class but only credible thing I learnt was 'It will be technologically most advance vessel of this region in its time period'.

Nothing more nothing less.

Initially I was also under the impression that PN is opting for some heavier vessel from Daman. However my this assumption was refuted by @Ark_Angel.
If you look at HTVs from 'destroyer perspective' (assuming funds have been sourced from a friendly nation), what pictures and options come into your mind?
There's always a chance for a nice surprise (especially with PN), but based on what I heard from the CNS' speech, I'd go with the most obvious route unless shown otherwise... That route is 6 additional OPVs from Damen. I can easily be wrong, but I'm just saying based on what I heard.

video is time stamp

Hi,

Thank you for the video---.

It is all directed towards the find of HYDROCARBONS in the region---so much expenditure of naval weapons in such a short time----after the show up of the indian subs in the arena---.

Something extremely serious had occurred in the rgion for the Pak navy to go onto this buying binge---and for the pak military to release funds to the navy---.

This is certainly the impression I got from his speech. It seems to me that the PN is building a dual layered asset capability.

Petrol type ships with some offensive capability, 8 OPV type corvettes, augmented by the Type 22s. And, ships with true offensive capability, capable of taking the fight to the enemy, Milgems, Type 054s and the Jinnah Class, backed by a capable submarine force.

Both the above roles to be backed up by shore based assets, petrol aircrafts, multirole fighters and missiles. This gives the navy the capability to fight without fear, so in worse case scenario if the navy did lose lot of ships, they could still hold off the enemy with its shore based assets, and adopting a defensive posture. More about building a holistic capability, then just covering the bases, so to speak.

With Adm Abbasi gone expect a change in development plans.

Hi,

The first and foremost part of a navy is projecting its presence in its sea of influence---making itself visible---look at me---I am here---I am potent---I am ready---.

That is the visual face of the navy---. The invisible face of the navy are the subs---. Once the surface numbers become potent---the sub surface assets increase the force projection by a multiplier effect.

This force projection changes the outlook of the enemy---from strutting around in the past---it changes to concern---change of plans---change of power projection.

In our arena---one of the effects it has is on fisheries---. Innocent fishermen are targeted by the enemy ships---arrested and let to rot in jails---.

Another effect it has is on foreign trawlers and fishing ships that are stealing fish from our seas---and that is a big time effect---.

Bigger vessels such as Frigate / Destroyers ? or different type of OPVs ?
Currently nothing can be certain. Let the new Admiral settle in and let's see where his priorities are. With the recent promotion of Submarine pool Commdores I hope you can make the sense out of where the priorities of the new Commander lies being from the Surface Fleet.

...miniature SSKs? UUVs?

Outfitting is the biggest hassle. What we require is a one stop shop. That Damen does not have a game plan.
It looks like Pakistan will be outfitting subsystems itself. Now once PN goes through the pains of integration once for two ships, why not use those expertise and experience to continue doing it for more ships of the same type? After all the first ship will the take most financial and technical resources to equip and integrate.

The PN's last experience of out fitting the type21 was a miserable one. Hopefully they have learnt from it and have advanced further. I do not know what setup they have established for system integration with in the PN. Does anyone have any info?
PN will however transfer whatever it can from the type 21s to the newer platforms.
